Kennedy for the green
RFK Jr. woos environmental support in Boys, Girls Club visit.
By Greg Mellen
Staff writer

LONG BEACH — There were two Robert F. Kennedy Jrs. in Long Beach on Wednesday.

The first told charming accessible stories about environmental protection to kids at the Eastman/Fairfield Boys and Girls Club. The second delivered an impassioned discourse on what he sees as ruinous environmental policies enacted by the Bush administration to a roomful of local power brokers.

Kennedy, a well-known environmentalist and son of slain presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of President John F. Kennedy, was the keynote speaker at the 10th annual Corporate Luncheon to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Long Beach.

Speaking to a sold-out audience on the top floor of the Union Bank of California Building on Ocean Boulevard, Kennedy was introduced by Skip Keesal, of the firm of Keesal, Young and Logan, which helped underwrite the annual event.

A possible candidate for attorney general in New York, Kennedy is the senior attorney for the National Resources Defense Council and was a driving force behind successful efforts to prosecute polluters and clean up the Hudson River.
