A freedom fracas is brewing in Fort Worth, where a Marine veteran of the Iraqi battlefield says he was turned away from a local convenience store.

His Richland Hills sister sent her friends a sizzling e-mail about how her brother was refused service by a store clerk because he was wearing a gray "USMC" T-shirt.

The friends sent the e-mail to their friends. They sent it worldwide.

Now several hundred forwarded copies, countless voice mail messages, one planned store protest and one state trooper's phone call later, Heather M. Dowell wishes she had never written the letter.
