It was the Fascist Henry (the first) who raised workers' pay when they couldn't afford to buy the products they were making. That was, I believe, back in the 20's. The Deuce (grandson) is the apocryphal fan of automation, I believe. The Deuce has NEVER been regarded as much more than a self-indulged moron, imho. His grandfather probably did more harm than good. Having the Pinkertons crack union-orgainzer skulls is one of the more blatant abuses of civil rights ... something fairly consistent with his adoration of Hitler and Mussolini.
I may be biased, since my family was close friends with Walter and May Reuther for many years.
