Roemer works for father-in-law's consulting firm
WASHINGTON — On Monday, Tim Roemer was a congressman. Now he is a consultant in the private sector.

Roemer retired after 12 years in the U.S. House and has now landed two new jobs. His primary job will be working at his father-in-law's consulting firm, Johnston & Associates. Roemer's father-in-law is former U.S. Sen. Bennett Johnston, a Louisiana Democrat.

(snip)

At Johnston & Associates, Roemer and Johnston are the only former Congress members among the staff of approximately 10 people. Former members of Congress are prohibited from lobbying Congress for a year after they leave office. But it is common for them to work for firms that lobby while they wait out that time.

The new office is just blocks from the White House, on the other side of downtown Washington from the Capitol.
