Bodie's setting is beautiful, and can get some weather which makes the experience even better. The parks service has put in place a policy of "arrested Decay" at Bodie so they are slowly and surreptitiously keeping it all together, while maintaining the natural appearance of a ghost town, I believe they are doing a good job. There are some Hot Springs near Bridgeport as well that are worth a visit, "Big Hot", "Travertine", "Buckeye" - near Buckeye campground, this one is nice and is somewhat popular, and "Fales"

We are off to Downieville, Auburn, North San Juan and others as we make our way North through the Gold Country this winter.
