1. I'm more concerned about the earthquake-tsunami zones
It seems to me that the vast amount of the devastation from this recent event in Japan had to do with the tsunami. Most buildings, save right in the epicenter perhaps, were well constructed and survived the earthquake admirably. It was the tsunami that swept 10,000 people out and disabled the generators that controlled the cooling systems for the reactors.

We never used to talk that much about tsunamis: this one was disastrous. Is there any relationship to global warming here?

2. This map changes dramatically when intensity probability is plotted.
The subduction zone along the Pacific Northwest could have a very violent event like the one in Japan, and produce a tsunami at the same time.
