Kasich Opens Ohio’s State Parks To Fracking While Oil And Gas Industry Gives Him Most Donations

http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2011/11/14/367772/kasich-oil-gas-most-ohio-donations/

Taking office with the promise to create jobs, Ohio’s GOP Gov. John Kasich has achieved little but dismal poll numbers in pursuit of a deeply unpopular agenda. Indeed, his attempt to demolish workers’ rights recently earned him an unprecedented rejection of a governor’s signature legislation within the first year in office.

But Senate Bill 5 represented only one pillar his misguided plan. On top of allowing guns in bars and passing corporate-friendly budget blows to Ohio’s vulnerable populations, Kasich is opening Ohio’s state parks to fracking — a method of natural gas drilling that contaminates water supplies with radioactive material.

Seventy percent of Ohioans oppose Kasich’s plan to drill on public lands. And for good reason, as one home in Cleveland, Ohio actually exploded after gas seeped into its water well. But Kasich remains obstinate in his support: “Ohio is not going to walk away from a potential industry.”

More at the link.

This asshat is ruining my state. I can't believe any thinking person could have voted for this guy.

1. This became one of his priorities following his election
Selling prisons
Selling the turnpike
Killing unions
Killing health care reform
Giving away the State Parks to oil companies

So far he has sold several prisons for pennies on the dollar, passed a law against collective bargaining which we the people stopped, passed the referendum against health care and now this.

He knows he is a one term Governor and is wreaking as much damage as he can in the name of his corporate bosses.

2. Oil field operators need to show up at his front door asking for access to his back yard.
That's the only way these assholes will start taking it personally.

3. I'm so sorry.
And soooo very angry.
It seems any State that has the misfortune of having gas under it is now in danger of being turned into an ecological "sacrifice zone" by the gas industry and their bought-off politicians.

I've got an asshat ruining my state, too.

5. This is why he spent taxpayer $ to secure his private home instead of moving into the Gov mansion
He intended to rape and pillage and didn't want to face the mass opposition he knew his policies would face. He never had any intention of running for a 2nd term but planned on using the control of the legislature & OH supreme court (total control) to ram his Koch Bros agenda through.

19. Exactly. Take a look DU at what this asshole is attacking on Botany's link.
Doesn't this make you sick. The sad thing....is if this gets started, Strickland wins next election, I'm not sure the monied interests won't effect what the D's will do. Both parties seem to serving corporate interest.

BTW did you read my post on the election at the ER forum? (from Free Press) Husted is getting ready for 2012.

8. This was buried deep in the local section of the Dispatch
Surprise, Surprise. Of course the comments were only from the execs that gave him $$$$ and how it would "create jobs!!!!" Tell that to the thousands that showed up to apply for casino jobs here in Columbus (a casino will be opening up sometime next year where an auto parts plant used to be. Of course, there's not a peep about the link between fracking and contributions on the local news.

9. It was a BIG mistake to elect Kasich.
A teabagging millionaire Wall Street banker. How much wronger for the times can you BE? Kasich won with less than 50% of the vote in an election where fewer than 50% of eligible voters actually voted. So somewhere around 20-25% of Ohioans voted for the guy, based on lying TV ads funded with tens of millions in Koch Brothers Texas money. Polls show that if the election were reheld today, now that we have seen Kasich in action, he would lose in a landslide. Just like he will when we finally get the opportunity to dump him for good. Meanwhile, we have to settle for dumping his un-American laws one by one in referenda, like the one that just dumped the horrific anti-union SB5.
