I will never forget Katrina and what he let happen there. I thought that I knew the limits of human depravity, but taught me that I really had no idea.

Look at his eyes while he is photographed in the plane flying over New Orleans. They are full of malice and spite. He probably resented having to leave his party.

42. Yeah I know ......
I used to think that everyone had some bit of compassion or redemption inside of them if one could look long enough or hard enough or simply wait until they were so buffeted by life that they understood the meaning of it better.

After Bush though, it finally sank in that there are people who have no compassion, no concern for others and absolutely no redeeming qualities.

I think it was during this same time period that he was returning to Washington DC one night. He wasn't expecting photographers, but they were there, and they captured his essence. Laura was helping him off the plane so he wouldn't fall over. His face was flushed like only a drunken person's face flushes, and he had wet himself so that even in the dark you could see it staining a large area of his pants in front and down most of one pants leg. He had a very pleased expression on his face and an idiotic grin. Must have been a great party. Laura had obviously been doing this for years. It looked very practiced and she was nearly carrying him. Of course he wasn't drinking or so he assured everyone. He must have been holding a goldfish bowl on his lap.:wtf:

So there you have him. Unfeeling, cruel, witless and beyond redemption. What a winning package. Just ask the people of New Orleans. He is the worst president in history and one of the worst examples of humanity that I have ever seen.

If one hit Louisiana tomorrow there'd be no difference in the response. We know that America and Americans will never care about what happens to us.

30. I understand how you feel, but that is simply not true.
There were a lot of Americans from all walks of life, including many here at DU, who helped us in new Orleans.

George W. Bush was and still is mostly to blame for what happened in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina... not the governor, mayor, bad or good police, thieves or innocent victims, et al.

The buck stopped on the desk of President George W. Bush.

31. Bullshit
Not one soul was lost in New Orleans due to the storm. Bush*, in all of his republican hatred for the government, dismantled FEMA as it was under President Clinton and put in a party stooge at its helm. The bush* administration actively blocked relief efforts. While people were trapped, drowning, and dying from lack of hydration and lack of medical care (normal heart, bp, and diabetic medications) orders came from the administration to not allow rescuers into New Orleans and to not let anyone leave. There was actually a naval ship with medications and the ability to create 100,000 gallons of potable water that followed the storm to land to provide aide if necessary. That ship was not allowed to give aide in anyway.

I stayed at this computer for days stunned and shocked by the purposeful disaster that was foisted upon the people of New Orleans. People here monitored what was happening in real time and if you could please bother yourself to do an archive search you would understand how ridiculous and offensive your post is.

You know how everyone in and out of Louisiana feels and would react to a storm? The problem wasn't a nationwide lack of caring, it was ineptness in the ones wielding the power to do something. Your statement does not represent the views of everyone from Louisiana.
