7. He's always been filth -
back in the days when he was an FBI snitch, he was filth, and now he's the latter-day Jesse Jackson, jumping in front of the cameras as soon as anything hits the screen, just so that he can get some face time.

Let's not forget Tawana Brawley, please, and all that Sharpton did to try to ruin a good man's life. And I wonder if those judgments have ever been paid .............................

15. Hey,
I dealt with Rev. Sharpton back in the seventies, when I was working with the Berrigan brothers and the New Catholic Left. I know whereof I speak.

Your ignorance of the facts should not deter you from learning about what happened back then........................

I wonder how YOU will be perceived when you "shed your mortal shell..." I'm betting with your penchance for lashing out at others, you may well have a few vocal detractors of your own...

Wishing someone else dead is a horrendous freeperish behavior--as is your post egging on the OP.... Disgusting...

18. Clearly,
you're not familiar with Al Sharpton's history.

He was an FBI informant in Harlem in the 1960s. That was common knowledge, but it's certainly not proper to talk of the good reverend, is it?

And why not? What's his big saintly reputation now?

Check out Tawana Brawley, and see what the good reverend did to an innocent man, just to stay in the newspapers.

Then, check out his tax liabilities, and see if any of the civil judgments against him have been satisfied. Sharpton, for a long time in the seventies and eighties, spent a lot of time trying to ruin people, who turned around and sued him successfully.

Know your history before you start calling names.................

23. Yeah, well,
that was over the top, but I was just backing up the post to which I responded.

I do see him, though, as a parasite. Quite worthless, but always willing to fly first-class and stay in luxury suites, as long as someone else is picking up the tab. There are a number of lawsuits against him for not paying hotel tabs.

He's a real hero, yeah........................

It wasn't meant to be funny -
I had dealings with him in the seventies, when I worked in the civil rights world as a young lawyer.

Tawana Brawley. Remember that? One of Sharpton's grandstand plays that almost ruined the life of a good man. There are others.

He's hardly a role model, certainly not a hero, and it's an embarrassment that he deigns to present himself as any kind of spokesman for the African-American community ....................

Yes, he sucked and was wrong, but yes, that's history. That's like bringing up Chappaquidick every time someone mentions Kennedy.

It was a riot. He's a great performer, no doubt about that.

But, I have a special place in my heart for people who were snitches back when good people were doing all they could to end the Vietnam fiasco. COINTELPRO paid Sharpton handsomely..................

38. "And it's Brawley, I think." - Doesn't matter - black folks are all the same to some...
And because a black person somewhere somewhen made a false claim involving white folks, for that reason we white folks get to shutdown any black person anywhere at anytime who make a claim of racism as being "oversensitive".

It's absolutely wonderful being the fox guarding the henhouse.

47. It means that some people love to bring up Tawana and OJ when discussing race and justice
as if those two cases mean that blacks have been routinely getting over on the justice system. Ive seen numerous posters retort that "OJ also got off, does that mean he is innocent?" when people say that MJ was not convicted as a child molester.

the Brawley case went to trial in the civil matter, and the deception was documented, the judgments levied, and none of them ever paid.

But Sharpton and his cronies did a mighty fine job of trying to ruin an innocent man...............
