at least, that appears to be california's official position regarding married homosexuals.

heterosexuals, of course, can get married and divorced ad nauseum. hell, it's a not small industry in some parts of california. but i guess the puritans don't really care that much about heterosexual marriage.

1. I appreciate your point, unblock,
but Puritans could divorce (they actual had civil unions, not church-approved). If they misrepresented themselves (say a man said he had 20 acres and a house ready for the bride, but didn't - fraudulent contract, in other words); willful desertion; physical abuse (on either side - neither spouse was supposed to strike the other); and, of course, adultery.

But I DO understand your point.

8. thanks for the enlightenment, enlightenment!
i guess i meant "puritans", lower-case "p", as the modern-day pejorative for prudish, self-righteous, religion-wielding advocates of governmental control of personal behavior, as opposed to "puritans", upper-case "p", the actual early european settlers who FLED from prudish, self-righteous, religion-wielding advocates of governmental control of personal behavior.

2. First the gays destroyed marriage. And NOW they're destroying divorce, too!
Nice going, gays, sheesh.

Next thing you know, they'll start destroying the revered institution of extramarital affairs on business trips.

3. well, in regards to divorce... if people are so concerned about the sanctity of marriage, than
shouldn't divorce be outlawed? according to their reasons against gay marriage, one would think that since divorce is more damaging to marriage that we should do something to stop that too.

7. that's not all
If you're one of the lucky 18,000 in California, if your spouse dies you aren't allowed to marry again.
