Liz Cheney Reveals That Fear Of Prosecution Motivates Dad’s Media Blitz
From Think Progress:

>>>>>>>snip

But while the narrative of Cheney’s motives focuses mainly on the righteous,(from the media) it has all but ignored the selfish — that Cheney is trying to muddle the public debate with the goal of reducing public support for a criminal inquiry into the torture regime that he authorized.

Last night on CNN, however, Cheney’s daughter Liz revealed that fear of prosecution is indeed a motivating factor in the former vice president’s current media campaign:

L. CHENEY:" I don’t think he planned to be doing this, you know, when they left office in January. But I think, as it became clear that President Obama was not only going to be stopping some of these policies, that he was going to be doing things like releasing the — the techniques themselves, so that the terrorists could now train to them, that he was suggesting that perhaps we would even be prosecuting former members of the Bush administration."

Does Liz Cheney also fear that her dad will be prosecuted for his role in the Bush administration’s torture program? Perhaps so. As Steve Benen has noted, “Liz Cheney has been all over the television news” as well, with “12 appearances, in nine and a half days, spanning four networks.”

1. Yep.
Cheney appears to believe that there is a very real chance that there will be some type of investigation, which could lead to criminal prosecution.

Nominated.

2. I sense a Rovian sleight of hand. Cheney isn't worried about anything.
He is confidant that the Obama administration and Congress won't touch him. Public opinion is meaningless. His diatribes and warnings are an intended distraction for whatever he is planning. He still has operatives within D.C. and he doesn't intend to "retire" after his tenure as vice president.

6. Exactly. In a way, it could be interpreted as Dick bragging
about how he has made more bones than even President Bush.

4. What a shameless bunch
Dick has been a coward all his life. Now he's parading his family all over TV which only makes rational people know that he's scared shitless and can't find too many other people willing to support torture.

5. Al Qaeda knows about what we do to their people like we knew what Germans and Japanese
did to our POWs, releasing the photos gives them nothing they don't already have.

7. Talks Tough And Then Hides...
There was a great post here about cheney's history of hiding behind skirts and others when things get hot. From getting his putrid wife preggers to stay out of Vietnam to trotting out that spawn to be his current attack dog. He'll sit at the AEI and blow shit and lies with no impunity or go on with his teevee pets and steamroll 'em cause he has never had to answer any tough questions. He's never had to really face his critics, he sends others out to do the dirty work as he slithers back into the shadows.

He's playing jury nullification...trying to make his war crimes political...and then use strawmen and other false flags to justify those crimes. He knows that if it's a he said/she said game about the "is is" of torture and not his own complicity, he can avoid any serious investigation or prosecution.
