FAIR ELECTIONS NOW ACT -- HR 1826 - PUBLIC FINANCING OF CAMPAIGNS ....
Had a call from Common Cause today --

evidently this legislation is in the works --

they said my REPUG Rep had signed a "PLEDGE" to vote for this act when it comes up!!!!

They are especially trying to get more Repugs to sponsor it --

Naturally, they are trying to get the word out on this and looking for Dem and Repug support.

Call your Sens and Reps and try to get them on board --

Thank you --

Obviously we can't change anything until we change this scheme of bribery -- !!!

:)

1. Your REPUG is upset he isn't getting enough campaine contributions.
I haven't read this bill, but I don't see why we should level the playing field for them while Democrats are out raising the repukes.

2. This is the bill Sam Waterston has been touting, I believe
at the Waterston fan board we've been discussing it for weeks. Glad to see Common Cause phoning folks about it, too.

5. I most certainly do mean the actor
Sam Waterston is very active in environmental and political circles. He's a recent Board member of Oceana, and has been on the Board of Refugees International for over 20 years. He spoke for Al Gore in 2000, and after Unity 08 went bust, donated the max to Obama and the Democrats. I can link you to All Things Waterston, but it's been a while since we've linked and discussed his activities on election reform. Went back to ATW, and found the thread, which starts with an op-ed from Sam that was in the Boston Globe:

Interesting to follow the discussion, because there are some 28%ers at this board as well as die hard liberals--and yet we are able to get along nicely. Sam attracts polite fans, I think.
