Know your BFEE: 1984 Death of Outstanding Congressional Staffer Buried Poppy-Moon Relationship
Former CIA director-cum-president 41 George Herbert Walker Bush and his patron, Rev Sun Myung Moon, benefited from the premature death of one outstanding Congressional staff director, researcher, author and American – Robert B. Boettcher.

As staff director for the Fraser Subcommittee investigating the connections of the Korean CIA to the U.S. government, Mr. Boettcher discovered Rev Moon’s organization, its goals for world domination, and its influence on individuals in, and the institutions of, the United States Government.

Carla Binion provides an excellent overview:

Why is TV news ignoring the relationship between Moon and the Bush family?

Why won't Congress and the television news media investigate the relationship between the Bush family and Sun Myung Moon?

EXCERPT…

Fraser committee staff director Robert Boettcher writes about Moon's history. In his early climb to power, says Boettcher, Moon wanted to have loyal cultists inside the Korean government, where "they could sway powerful persons and become influential themselves." Moon wanted his followers to portray the Unification Church as a "useful political tool for the government" while hiding Moon's power goals.

Moon's early followers included army officers close to Kim Jon Pil, the founding director of the Korean CIA. Kim Jong Pil knew that Moon had ambitions to build influence in Korea and in other countries. He gave Moon slack, because he decided Moon might be of use to the Korean government.

One early Moon follower, Bo Hi Pak, was assigned to the Embassy in Washington in 1961. Boettcher says Pak's home on North Utah Street in Arlington, Virginia, was a Moonie recruiting center. Pak established the Unification Church in Virginia in 1963.

Pak cultivated the friendship of an airline pilot, Robert Roland, and his wife, but did not tell them of his association with Moon. Boettcher learned that when Roland asked about Pak's duties as assistant military attache, Pak said he "was responsible for liaison between South Koreans and American intelligence agencies, which often required his visiting the super-secret National Security Agency (NSA) located at Fort Meade, Maryland."

Roland said that after dinner one evening, Pak revealed "step by step how the destiny of mankind was in the hands of a Korean named Moon." When Roland asked what his aim was in Washington, Pak said, "I must lay a firm foundation for Master by making influential political and social contacts."

Gee. I don’t remember reading that very important story in my city’s two dailies. I certainly would remember seeing it on the TV.

Here’s something else that’s been un-reported by Corporate McPravda in the apparent hope of being forgotten, the Congressional testimony of Mr. Boettcher of what he and the Congressional investigation found regarding Rev Moon:

The Cult Phenomenon in the United States

(1979)

Joint-Congressional Proceedings
statements by Robert Boettcher

INFORMATION MEETING ON THE CULT PHENOMENON
IN THE UNITED STATES

February 5, 1979, 318 Russell Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C.

P.30-35. of Transcript of Proceedings.

Senator Dole: It might be helpful -- Bob Boettcher, would you identify yourself in your statement as far as background?

Mr. Boettcher: Yes, sir.

STATEMENT OF BOB BOETTCHER.

Senator Dole: I have a brief description of each witness, (but) as long as everybody understands what your role has been, then we have a better understanding (of) what you say.

Mr. Boettcher: I was the staff director for the Fraser Subcommittee which conducted the investigation in Korean-American relations.

I will try to keep my remarks brief and to the point. I know there are many to hear from this morning.

The Founding Fathers of this country prized worship of a supreme being so highly they listed it first in the Bill of Rights.

200 years later Americans still cherish that right as inviolable. The Attorney General of the United States has made a point of his commitment to protect.

Currently, we are witnessing a perversion of freedom of religion by leaders of cults who think they have special license to violate laws.

My own experience with cult activities is from the investigation of Korean-American relations in the House of Representatives, investigations chaired by Congressman Donald Fraser, whose house was set on fire last September, and among the members of the subcommittee was Congressman Leo Ryan, who was killed last November.

We considered allegations that organizations affiliated with Sun Myung Moon had operational ties with the Korean Central Intelligence Agency. The Fraser Subcommittee was astonished by what it found.

There are not several separate Moon organizations; there is one unified, multifaceted organization run by Moon.

His best known group is the Unification Church, although he has hundreds of fronts. His stated goal, quite simply, is to rule the world by setting up a global theocracy in which separation between church and state will be abolished.

Though that notion is a far-fetched absurdity to reasonable people, Moon has managed to recruit an army of brainwashed, obedient servants, and to amass a fortune, many millions of dollars.

Americans should ask their Attorney General some questions about freedom of religion in the Moon organization. Does freedom of religion give Moon the right to violate (the) 13th Amendment to the Constitution, which outlaws involuntary servitude?

Hundreds former members of his cult have declared they never acted out of their own free will while under Moon's control.

Does freedom of religion give Moon the right to be paid secretly by the Korean CIA in September of 1974 to carry out a plot to throw eggs at the Japanese Ambassador and disrupt an official visit by the Prime Minister of Japan?

Does freedom of religion give Moon the right to smuggle millions of dollars into the United States?

Did freedom of religion give Moon the right to try to take over an American bank in 1975 by buying half the bank's stock secretly with cult money?

Did freedom of religion give Moon the right to smuggle hundreds of aliens into this country under the guise of students for religious training, so he could put them to work full time in his business enterprises?

Does freedom of religion give Moon the right to make his brain-washed servants solicit money in the streets by lying about what the money is to be used for?

Did freedom of religion give Moon and his minion in Washington, Bo Hi Pak, the right to dupe Americans into donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to Radio Free Asia, a Moon front which used free Korean government broadcast facilities under control of the Korean CIA?

Did freedom of religion give Moon's minion, Bo Hi Pak, the right to collect millions of dollars from Americans under the guise of a children's relief fund and then use 93 percent of the money to pay public relations men?

Did freedom of religion give Moon and his cult the right to negotiate an unregistered agent of the Korean government for manufacture and export of M-16 rifles?

Americans should ask their Senators and Congressman: Does freedom of religion give Moon the right to infiltrate your office staffs with covert agents who report details of your personal lives to the cult for its special card file?

Did freedom of religion give Moon the right to refuse to answer questions about these activities before a subcommittee of Congress?

Apparently even Moon had doubts about that, because he fled the United States to avoid a subpoena.

To say these activities are protected by the First Amendment would be a travesty. They are activities of a thoroughly antidemocratic, brain-washed political party. They are activities of a huge, greedy business conglomerate.

As of now, Moon's business empire includes military weapons, newspapers, banking, tea, chemicals, candles, vases, valets, candy, fishing, movies, shipbuilding, sound recording, food processing, travel agencies, and large real estate holdings.

Moon is a menace. We must not allow him and other cult leaders like him to pervert freedom of religion for their own lust for power.

We are entitled to action by our Attorney General to protect our rights.

Thank you.

(Applause.)

Senator Dole: Let me just caution the audience. As I indicated before the group just came in, or some of the groups, we are under time constraints. We would appreciate it if we would save our applause until everyone leaves.

(Laughter.)

Mr. Boettcher also wrote a book about what he discovered: Gifts of Deceit: Sun Myung Moon Tongsun Park and the Korean Scandal , published by Holt, Rinehart & Winston, 1980.

It’s easy to see why someone with that kind of knowledge could be considered a threat.

Why? His passing killed the Truth.

Here’s what happened to Mr. Boettcher:

Robert Boettcher, Staff Chief In House Inquiry, Dies in Fall

The New York Times
May 30, 1984

Robert B. Boettcher, who was staff director of a Congressional investigation of South Korean influence-peddling in Washington in the 1970's, died Thursday in a fall from the roof of an apartment building on Central Park West, where he lived. He was 44 years old.

From 1971 until 1979, Mr. Boettcher directed the staff of the House Subcommittee on International Organizations. In that capacity he was in charge, under Representative Donald Fraser, of gathering evidence of a scandal in which Tongsun Park, a South Korean millionaire businessman, and others were accused of unlawfully seeking to influence American political figures in providing military and economic aid to Seoul.

Knowing what we know now, it’s not really odd that the NYT obit made mention of the exposed guy – Tongsun Park – and no direct mention of Rev Moon.

Of course, once Mr. Boettcher passed away, it was a long time before people started pointing out the connections between the Bush Family and Rev. Moon. In addition to Ms. Binion, Robert Parry, John Gorenfeld, Frederick Carlson, Frederick Miller and William Cheshire have worked to raise awareness of the influence of Rev Moon on the United States. Thanks to them – and the Internet – and You, even more people will know the Truth.

Guess who’s in this photo?

Thank you for the kind words, goclark! Same goes for You, my Friend!

To pile on, a bit:

Who Is Rev. Moon? 'Returning Lord,' 'Messiah,' Publisher of the Washington Times

By John Gorenfeld, PoliPoint Press
Posted on March 15, 2008, Printed on July 19, 2008
http://www.alternet.org/story/79529/

The following is an adapted excerpt from John Gorenfeld's "Bad Moon Rising: How Reverend Moon Created the Washington Times, Seduced the Religious Right, and Built an American Kingdom" (Polipoint Press, 2008). The video at the right is from a 1997 Washington Times party where Moon said he founded the newspaper to save the world. In it, he also demands that his employees rid the world of "free sex," meaning sexual intercourse beyond the purifying influence of his mass weddings.

EXCERPT...

"Moon can buy a newspaper," Chris Matthews (of MSNBC Hardball fame) said in 1982, when he was spokesperson for Democratic House Speaker Tip O'Neill and Moon's editors had just printed their first issue, "but I can't buy the idea he's a newspaperman."

Five years on, the skeptics persisted. "What I don't understand," said Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee in 1987, alluding to a congressional report that said Moon's aides had been career South Korean intelligence officers, "is how anyone can take seriously a newspaper that is controlled … by the agents of a foreign government. No one would take them seriously if it was Bangladesh. No one would take them seriously if it was France."

Today the peculiar newspaper has become an "extremely important paper for conservatives," National Review editor John O'Sullivan has said, "because it's in Washington and has great influence within the administration." Its reporting is incessantly quoted on Fox News Channel, on talk radio, and in the Republican Web world, leaving a mark on public opinion. The Times originally rolled out in 1982 -- created by Moon -- to counterbalance the critical Washington Post with a friendlier treatment of the Reagan administration. The paper calls itself "America's Newspaper."

Or is it more than just a daily newspaper? Again and again, the reverend has described his paper's role in surprising terms: as a vehicle for God's word; as "our media"; as a mighty ship at his disposal. In 2005, frustrated by his lack of appreciation in the American press, Moon fumed, "How come our media is silent? … You have to write correct articles, or maybe we should sell those newspapers … All central nations should understand the Crown of Peace Ceremony."

Moon's messianic view of his paper has often led to strange collisions with its official image. In 1997, the paper held a party for its fifteenth anniversary at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in D.C., and it was broadcast on C-SPAN. After the tinkling of lounge piano, Bush Sr. appeared in a congratulatory video. Sen. Orrin Hatch made a few pointed comments about the "liberal modus operandi" and the spirit of capitalism, and mocked progressives for wanting to "help the poor, quote-and-quote." The Times's chief editor, Wes Pruden, spoke briefly about the man who was about to take the stage. He told the story of how that "young seeker" in Korea, a Sunday school teacher, survived torture, came to America, and now fostered good journalism with his "commitment to objectivity." Then the grim-faced Moon rose from his chair and spoke for about forty-five minutes.

"Free sex is centered on Sayy-tan!" he rasped -- as Times associates shifted uncomfortably in their seats. His tongue drooped lazily over his lips as he let this sink in. He continued. "World literature and the media have often stimulated free sex," he said. "But from now on, you literary figures and journalists should lead the way to prevent free sex. Free sex should completely disappear." During that evening, he also directed Times staff to read a speech of his dozens of times for understanding; he smiled to himself at a private joke about the number seven that the audience seemed to find hard to follow; and he even told the crowd, "No one can oppose me."

Chris Matthews no longer badmouths Moon. For several years his syndicated column ran in the Times. Seven years after his feisty dismissal of Moon, the fair-haired addressed a 1989 gathering with the Messiah as headliner. It was the annual conference of the Moon-sponsored World Media Association (WMA). The WMA is an allegedly serious panel that meets to think big thoughts on the future of news, behind it the flags of the world's countries, as at a UN summit. Moon is a newspaperman, after all.

Gifts of Deceit

Sun Myung Moon, Tongsun Park, and the Korean scandal
by Robert B. Boettcher
1980, Holt, Rinehart and Winston
ISBN 0030445760
402 pages, illustrated.

Review by A.T. Wood, Legislative assistant to Representative Donald Fraser, December 2000

In Gifts of Deceit the late Robert Boettcher insightfully and thoroughly documents the activities and findings of the Fraser Committee. This congressional subcommittee (through it's 1978 report) on International Organizations opened a window on a world in Washington which many would prefer to see closed forever.

The report of this committee informally called the “Fraser Report” exhaustively documents and details Sun Myung Moon's role in working to shape American foreign policy. It further names a whole host of characters including American politicians, military leaders, Korean diplomats, former Japanese prime ministers, not to mention President Dwight D. Eisenhower who wittingly or unwittingly wound up acting as agents or surrogates for Sun Myung Moon and his "Unification Church".

In addition to reading like a first rate who dunn’it Boettcher's book gives the reader a behind the scenes look at official Washington which to this day has done nothing about the principal findings of the Frazer Committee: namely that the Unification Church has engaged in systematic violations of U.S law. Banking and currency laws, securities and exchange commission laws, Immigration and naturalization laws and charities fraud laws.

Boettcher's book is the first book that reveals the global geo-political ambitions of the Moon organization. It is a must for students of foreign relations, students of destructive cults, and for students of the U. S. Constitution particularly those who take an interest in the first and the thirteenth amendments.

Opus Dei -Moonie-Mormon Axis Behind Pro-Torture Policy of US Government
(Scoreboard Canada contributor October 7th, 2006)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One of the more frightening and sinister aspects of the false-flagged synthetic "war on terror" has been the change in official US governmental policy towards the use of torture. A topic that would have been considered insane and off-limits is now 'The Law of the Land'. The question then arises as to how this came to be and who is behind it. The answer is simple, two men have been ascribed credit for being the authors of the so-called Torture Memo that gave the skull and bones bush administration the legal advice 'green light' to proceed in this fashion. This is the story of who they are and what is truly behind them.
PREMISE OF ARTICLE

A suspected Yale Skull and Bones 'Moonie' or member of the Sun Myung Moon Unification Church & a Freemason linked Mormon were the scribes of the torture plan. These individuals are way beyond the so-called mainstream of middle-America in religious thought and belief since most Americans consider both Moonies and Mormons to be at least very weird and at worst dangerous cults. The mainstream media is controlled by their allies and therefore the public does not get the appropriate information needed to react in horror...before it is too late if it is not too late as you read this

THE EVIDENCE:

The authors of the torture memo that is now law in the United States of America: FULL TEXT more . Jay Bybee, now a 9th Circuit Federal Appeals Court Judge and John Yoo now a law professor, Korean immigrant and allegedly a Unification Church member. more.

1. John Yoo Bio :

a) Worked for Mormon Senator Orrin Hatch; b) belonged to the Yale created far rightwing Federalist Society; c) Attended secret society-riddled Yale University; d) clerked for suspected Opus Dei US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas; e) is linked to the Neo-Con American Enterprise Institute. more.

a1) Senator Orrin Hatch, a Mormon, is linked to Sun Myung Moon extensively: more "Moon has been explicit about his plan to "unify" the world under a global theocracy..." AND "Orrin Hatch has spoken at CAUSA conferences and supported Moon..." more . Mormonism likewise as the Moonies seeks a One World Government Theocracy - more .

b2) Federalist Society was created at Skull and Bones Yale: more. The Federalist Society's membership...like Skull and Bones is secret: more.

d3) Opus Dei and Justice Thomas: "for many years unconfirmed reports have linked Supreme Court Justices Scalia and Thomas to Opus Dei. more.

e4) American Enterprise Institute is alleged to be a "CIA propaganda factory" more .

f) John Yoo is a member of the North American Union backing / one world government Council on Foreign Relations. more .

SUSPECTED MOONIE from Korea: more / more .

2. Jay Bybee bio:

a) Extensive Mormon links beyond simply being a member of the freemasonic entity; b) worked at the Opus Dei linked Sidley Austin law firm; c) law professor at the University of Nevada , Las Vegas named after the Mormon casino empire Boyd family: more .

b1) Sidley Austin and Opus Dei: The law firm was the home of then lawyer/partner and now Monsignor Peter Vaghi. He is a leader of Opus Dei and the pastor to Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court John Roberts. more .

c2) Boyd Gaming owns the Coast Casino chain. more.

The Orleans is a Coast Casino and it hosts satanic rock concerts. In fact it hosted Slayer - the #1 band in this evil genre on its 6-6-06 tour. more./ more .

The largest institutional shareholder in Boyd Gaming is PCM or Private Capital Mangement. more . PCM is owned by Legg Mason which is owned by Alliance Bernstein which is owned by AXA, the French insurance giant. This is the same ownership structure for the newspapers across America that promoted "the gospel of Judas" = more.

The Gospel of Judas players are linked to United Nations guru Maurice Strong who is linked CLOSELY to Tongsun Park an agent of Sun Myung Moon involved in both the Korea Gate and Oil-For-Food scandal: more . Maurice and Tongsun = more. Tongusn Park was also a "bagman" for Saddam Hussein.

Slayer is producing a new CD called "The Christ Illusion". The company producing it is Warner Brothers. more .
Warner Brothers is a subsidiary of Time Warner - more. The largest institutional shareholder of Time Warner is Alliance Bernstein - more . Same owners again.

*** The entities that host satanic rock concerts , produce their CDs and bring the bogus gospel of Judas in the daily paper to the US public also fund the law school that Judge Bybee, author of the torture memo taught young would-be lawyers. You can see this yourself. This is not theory ...it is fact. AXA is run by Claude Bebear, "Crocodile Claude" the godfather of french capitalism and Opus Dei man. more .The AXA center in Chicago is linked to the previously mentioned Sidley Austin law firm. (scroll to bottom). more . also more .

A major Shareholder of Time Warner is billionaire Carl Icahn. more .

The Shimizu japanese construction company was involved in the construction of the Shumei sect's Miho Museum in Japan. Shimizu is also a 333 company that does extensive work in Dubai. more

The previously mentioned Senator Orrin Hatch has very close ties to the ruling caste of Dubai. So close that he can get a producer released from prison there with a few phone calls. more .The producer, Dallas Austin is now working for Warner Brothers. more.as the Disney Land song goes... its a small world after all ... .

3. What Do The Unification Church and the Mormons have in Common?

a) They both claim to be Christian; b) They both deny the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Mormons further believe that a man can become a god and the leader of the Unification Church, Sun Myung Moon believes that he is destined to fulfill the failed mission of Jesus Christ and goes around breaking crosses in public. more . Moon was crowned messiah at the US Senate office building. more.Mormon beliefs also include that Jesus and Lucifer were brothers. more . Man as God and Vice Versa = more / This process of human deification is called Exaltation. more . This is the religious background of the torture scribes. This article is not designed to judge others beliefs. It is designed to show that the torture approvers beliefs are not in sync with that of the huge majority of the citizens of the United States that now have the dark cloud of LEGALIZED TORTURE hanging over their lives.

CONCLUSION:

The average US citizen has not been allowed to become aware that two cult members of traditions with beliefs completely at odds with the vast majority of the 300

million people now living in the USA are the authors of a memo that has led to legalized torture of anyone deemed an 'enemy of the state'. As noted in the links between

these various entities and individuals what is behind the torture memo is a vast global satanic network that has taken control of much of the globe and the USA itself

Frederick Carlson connects Moon to America's ultra-right wing:

The Religious Right, White Evangelicals and Rev. Moon

by Frederick Clarkson
Thu Apr 03, 2008 at 11:40:20 AM PDT

One of the more remarkable dimensions of the sprawling, diverse, and powerful political movement we generically call the Religious Right, is the empire of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and his Unification Church. It is also one of its least well understood.

To read the purveyors of the 'Religious Right is dead, dying or irrelevant' narrative, one would think that the movement was limited to white evangelical Christians. Suffice to say that as central as that demographic has been, they are not now, nor have they ever been the only element of the Religious Right -- one of the most significant political movements in American history. The movement, whatever its ups and downs, has built not only on demographgics, but via a formidable array of media, academic, and political institutions, and the grooming of a generation of leaders and activists who will continue to contest for power long after the founding generation of Religious Right leaders passes from the scene, and even as some organizations of the Religious Right go with them.

For those tempted by the sketchily-supported Religious Right is dead, dying or irrelevant narrative: consider the Moon organization before you buy.

SNIP...

It is sometimes difficult to get our minds around the impact of The Washington Times and other elements of the seemingly obscure and hard to understand Moon organization. It is also hard to imagine that the lions and lionesses of mainstream journalism take the Moon owned, controlled and bankrolled media empire as if they were legitimate news organizations. Darksyde picks a good example out of John’s book to illustrate the point: Did you know that the malicious rumor that Barack Obama is a Muslim owes much of its currency to the Washington Times - related internet (formerly print) news magazine, Insight??

And that that Insight magazine story was picked up by major media -- especially Fox News -- before it was debunked by others?

WOF! I almost choked to death on a piece of cheese.

While I don't normally pick on the relations of True Mother, I must add:

Bushes Speak at Tokyo Rally of Group Linked to Moon Church

By ANDREW POLLACK

Former President George Bush was speaking at the Tokyo Dome tonight, but that is not who 60-year-old Chieko Haneda was coming to see. "The true mother will be attending," she said excitedly.

The true mother is Hak Ja Han Moon, wife of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, founder of the Unification Church. Tonight, Mr. Bush and his wife, Barbara, were the warm-up speakers for Unification Church followers who had come mainly to hear Mrs. Moon extol the virtues of her husband and his religion.

Mr. Bush will speak in several Japanese cities at events sponsored by the Women's Federation for World Peace, an organization founded and led by Mrs. Moon. The fee for his and his wife's appearances was not disclosed.

Critics say the Bushes are lending legitimacy to the South Korea-based church, which has been accused of using deceptive tactics to recruit members who are then isolated from their families. It is also accused of preying on members' fears to extract huge donations.

SNIP...

Mrs. Moon talked mainly about her belief that human beings are under the influence of Satan. She got the longest applause toward the end of her hourlong speech when she referred to the activities of Mr. Moon, like the communal arranged marriage of 360,000 couples he conducted recently, his fight against Communism and the victory over persecution that made him respected as an "admirable leader."

In their speeches, neither former President Bush nor Mrs. Bush mentioned Mr. Moon, who served time in a Federal prison for tax evasion.

It makes you wonder who Moon really is.

He has extensive ties with ultra -nationalist Japanese right-wing reactionaries and Yakuza. They supplied much of his working capital in the early years. These are the same Japanese that were allied with the Nazi regime.

Mysterious Republican Money
By Robert Parry
September 7, 2004

If House Speaker Dennis Hastert were really concerned about drug profits being laundered into the U.S. political process, he would not be sliming billionaire financier George Soros with that suspicion. Hastert would be looking at a principal conservative funder: South Korean theocrat Sun Myung Moon.

While Hastert was unable to cite a shred of evidence that the liberal Soros is funneling illicit money, there is a substantial body of evidence that Moon has long commanded a criminal enterprise with close ties to Asian and South American drug lords. The evidence includes first-hand accounts of money laundering disclosed by Moon confidantes and even family members. Besides those more recent accounts, Moon was convicted of tax fraud based on evidence developed in the late 1970s about his money-laundering activities.

Since serving his tax-evasion sentence in the early 1980s, however, Moon appears to have bought himself protection by spreading hundreds of millions of dollars around conservative causes and through generous speaking fee payments to Republican leaders, including former President George H.W. Bush.

Moon himself has boasted that he spent $1 billion on the right-wing Washington Times in its first decade alone. The newspaper, which started in 1982, continues to lose Moon an estimated $50 million a year but remains a valuable propaganda organ for the Republican Party.

How Moon has managed to cover the vast losses of his media empire and pay for lavish conservative conferences has been one of the most enduring mysteries of Washington, but curiously one of the least investigated – at least since the Reagan-Bush era.

Limited investigations of Moon’s organization have revealed large sums of money flowing into the United States mostly from untraceable accounts in Japan, where Moon had close ties to yakuza gangster Ryoichi Sasakawa. Former Moon associates also have revealed major money flows from shadowy sources in South America, where Moon built relationships with right-wing elements associated with the cocaine trade, including the so-called Cocaine Coup government of Bolivia in the early 1980s.

Wiki states that Moon was born in what is now North Korea.

I've long heard about links between Moon and the international neo-Nazi movement. His connection with the most extreme, militant elements of the international anti-communists is well-known. Moon has extensive ties in South America among fascist emigre groups. The larger question raised here is worth seriously pursuing -- is Moon and the Bush family part of a self-conscious Fascist revanchist group? Certainly, Prescott and G.H.W. Walker were part of the American wing of the German-Amercan Fifth Column in the late 1930s and 1940s. Is there a family tradition here? Are they still working the same agenda of destroying democracy along with socialism? Is Dubya Hitler's revenge? It would explain a lot.

From the same Parry article:

Nazi Rat Lines

After World War II, some Nazi leaders faced war-crimes tribunals, but others managed to make their escapes along “rat lines” to Spain or South America or they finagled intelligence relationships with the victorious powers, especially the United States. Argentina became a natural haven given the pre-war alliance that existed between the European fascists and prominent Argentine military leaders, such as Juan Peron. The fleeing Nazis also found a home with like-minded right-wing politicians and military officers across Latin America who already used repression to keep down the indigenous populations and the legions of the poor.

In the post-World War II years, some Nazi war criminals chose reclusive lives, but others, such as former SS officer Klaus Barbie, sold their intelligence skills to less-sophisticated security services in countries like Bolivia or Paraguay. Other Nazis on the lam trafficked in narcotics. Often the lines crossed between intelligence operations and criminal conspiracies. Auguste Ricord, a French war criminal who had collaborated with the Gestapo, set up shop in Paraguay and opened up the French Connection heroin channels to American Mafia drug kingpin Santo Trafficante Jr., who controlled much of the heroin traffic into the United States. Columns by Jack Anderson identified Ricord’s accomplices as some of Paraguay’s highest-ranking military officers.

Another French Connection mobster, Christian David, relied on protection of Argentine authorities. While trafficking in heroin, David also “took on assignments for Argentina’s terrorist organization, the Argentine Anti-Communist Alliance,” Henrik Kruger wrote in The Great Heroin Coup. During President Nixon’s “war on drugs,” U.S. authorities smashed the famous French Connection and won extraditions of Ricord and David in 1972 to face justice in the United States.

By the time the French Connection was severed, however, powerful Mafia drug lords had forged strong ties to South America’s military leaders. An infrastructure for the multi-billion-dollar drug trade, servicing the insatiable U.S. market, was in place. Trafficante-connected groups also recruited displaced anti-Castro Cubans, who had ended up in Miami, needed work, and possessed some useful intelligence skills gained from the CIA's training for the Bay of Pigs and other clandestine operations. Heroin from the Golden Triangle of Southeast Asia soon filled the void left by the broken French Connection and its mostly Middle Eastern heroin supply routes.

Moon's Arrival

During this time of transition, Sun Myung Moon brought his evangelical message to South America. His first visit to Argentina had occurred in 1965 when he blessed a square behind the presidential Pink House in Buenos Aires. But he returned a decade later to make more lasting friendships. Moon first sank down roots in Uruguay during the 12-year reign of right-wing military dictators who seized power in 1973. He also cultivated close relations with military dictators in Argentina, Paraguay and Chile, reportedly ingratiating himself with the juntas by helping the military regimes arrange arms purchases and by channeling money to allied right-wing organizations.

“Relationships nurtured with right-wing Latin Americans in the League led to acceptance of the Church’s political and propaganda operations throughout Latin America,” the Andersons wrote in Inside the League. “As an international money laundry, … the Church tapped into the capital flight havens of Latin America. Escaping the scrutiny of American and European investigators, the Church could now funnel money into banks in Honduras, Uruguay and Brazil, where official oversight was lax or nonexistent.”

Moon’s organization also funneled money to the United States with the goal of helping friendly U.S. politicians and hurting others who were considered unfriendly. In the late 1970s, a congressional investigation into South Korea’s influence-buying operations in Washington – the so-called Koreagate scandal – implicated Moon and traced the church’s chief sources of money to bank accounts in Japan, but could follow the cash no further.

Cocaine Coup

In 1980, Moon made more friends in South America when Bolivia’s Cocaine Coup plotters seized power in a terrifying alliance of fledgling cocaine cartels, international neo-Nazis and right-wing Bolivian military officers. Before the coup, WACL associates, such as Alfred Candia, allegedly had coordinated the arrival of some of the paramilitary operatives who assisted in the violent coup.

Afterwards, one of the first well-wishers arriving in La Paz to congratulate the new government was Moon’s top lieutenant, Bo Hi Pak. The Moon organization published a photo of Pak meeting with the new strongman, General Garcia Meza. After the visit to the mountainous capital, Pak declared, “I have erected a throne for Father Moon in the world’s highest city.”

According to later Bolivian government and newspaper reports, a Moon representative invested about $4 million in preparations for the coup. Bolivia’s WACL representatives also played key roles, and CAUSA, one of Moon’s anti-communist organizations, listed as members nearly all the leading Bolivian coup-makers.

Soon, Colonel Luis Arce-Gomez, a coup organizer and the cousin of cocaine kingpin Roberto Suarez, went into partnership with big narco-traffickers, including Trafficante’s Cuban-American smugglers. Nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie and his young neo-fascist followers found new work protecting Bolivia's major cocaine barons and transporting drugs to the border. “The paramilitary units – conceived by Barbie as a new type of SS – sold themselves to the cocaine barons,” German journalist Kai Hermann wrote. “The attraction of fast money in the cocaine trade was stronger than the idea of a national socialist revolution in Latin America.”

A month after the coup, General Garcia Meza participated in the Fourth Congress of the Latin American Anti-Communist Confederation, an arm of the World Anti-Communist League. Also attending that Fourth Congress was WACL president Woo Jae Sung, a leading Moon disciple.

On May 31, 1981, Moon representatives sponsored a CAUSA reception at the Sheraton Hotel’s Hall of Freedom in La Paz. Moon’s lieutenant Bo Hi Pak and Bolivian strongman Garcia Meza led a prayer for President Reagan's recovery from an assassination attempt. In his speech, Bo Hi Pak declared, “God had chosen the Bolivian people in the heart of South America as the ones to conquer communism.” According to a later Bolivian intelligence report, the Moon organization sought to recruit an “armed church” of Bolivians, with about 7,000 Bolivians receiving some paramilitary training.

But by late 1981, the cocaine taint of Bolivia’s military junta was so deep and the corruption so staggering that U.S.-Bolivian relations were stretched to the breaking point. “The Moon sect disappeared overnight from Bolivia as clandestinely as they had arrived,” Hermann reported.

The Cocaine Coup leaders soon found themselves on the run, too. Interior Minister Arce-Gomez was eventually extradited to Miami and was sentenced to 30 years in prison for drug trafficking. Drug lord Roberto Suarez got a 15-year prison term. General Garcia Meza became a fugitive from a 30-year sentence imposed on him in Bolivia for abuse of power, corruption and murder. Barbie was returned to France to face a life sentence for war crimes. He died in 1992.

30. See Item No. 22 on this page describing links to Japanese fascism...
Korea was once a colony of Japan:

http://www.spitfirelist.com/f291.html

The interview, conducted on 12/8/1991 (observing the 50th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor), focuses on connections between Japanese fascism and the Moonies. Specifically, the broadcast highlights the close connections between the aforementioned Yoshio Kodama, Ryoichi Sasakawa, the Japanese patriotic societies and the attack on Pearl Harbor. In the interview, Mr. Junas affirms the hypothesis presented in RFA-7—that the Moon organization constitutes an extension of the Japanese patriotic societies through the years and around the world. (It should be noted that, although nominally Korean, the Unification Church is rooted in Japanese fascism. Korea had been a Japanese colony, and many of the organization’s key early participants had been officers in the Imperial Japanese army. This interview develops the Moon/Japan link still further.) Both Kodama and Sasakawa were very close to, and involved with, the patriotic societies. (See FTR-296.) Both were also key operatives with the Unification Church. Sasakawa was very close to Admiral Yamamato, who led the fleet that attacked Pearl Harbor. Sasakawa was also very close to the Mitsubishi heavy industrial firm—one of the zaibatsu that was principally involved with shipbuilding for the Japanese navy. Kodama founded the Kodama Agency on the day Pearl Harbor was attacked (its founding actually took place on 12/8/1941 since Japan is on the other side of the International Date Line.) The Kodama Agency utilized (among other things) the trafficking of contraband from Japanese-occupied Manchuria in order to obtain strategic materials for the Imperial Japanese Naval Air Arm. As discussed in RFA-7, Kodama and General Minoru Genda were involved in the Lockheed scandal in 1976. (They were convicted of accepting bribes to effect the purchase of Lockheed aircraft for the Japanese self-defense forces. For more on the Lockheed bribery scandal, see FTR-290.) The commander of the air armada that attacked Pearl Harbor, Genda was awarded a medal by the U.S. Air Force for his work on behalf of Lockheed! One of the focal points of the interview concerns the funding for the Moon organization. Despite its numerous industrial and fund-raising operations, the source of its vast economic resources remains ambiguous. Most of the Moon-owned businesses are money-losers. Junas advances the hypothesis, based on his research, that the most probable source for the financing of the Moon organization is Japanese heavy industry—the Mitsubishi firm, in particular. The patriotic societies were also very close to the zaibatsu (the giant family trusts). Mitsubishi was one of the zaibatsu.

33. What happened to $100 billion in WWII loot? Ask Rev Moon
Tim Weiner and his colleagues at The New York Times did some heavy lifting on this sordid bit of history:

C.I.A. Spent Millions to Support Japanese Right in 50's and 60's

By TIM WEINER,
The New York Times
Published: October 9, 1994

In a major covert operation of the cold war, the Central Intelligence Agency spent millions of dollars to support the conservative party that dominated Japan's politics for a generation.

The C.I.A. gave money to the Liberal Democratic Party and its members in the 1950's and the 1960's, to gather intelligence on Japan, make the country a bulwark against Communism in Asia and undermine the Japanese left, said retired intelligence officials and former diplomats. Since then, the C.I.A. has dropped its covert financial aid and focused instead on gathering inside information on Japan's party politics and positions in trade and treaty talks, retired intelligence officers said.

The Liberal Democrats' 38 years of one-party governance ended last year when they fell from power after a series of corruption cases -- many involving secret cash contributions. Still the largest party in Japan's parliament, they formed an awkward coalition in June with their old cold war enemies, the Socialists -- the party that the C.I.A.'s aid aimed in part to undermine.

Though the C.I.A.'s financial role in Japanese politics has long been suspected by historians and journalists, the Liberal Democrats have always denied it existed, and the breadth and depth of the support has never been detailed publicly. Disclosure of the covert aid could open old wounds and harm the Liberal Democrats' credibility as an independent voice for Japanese interests. The subject of spying between allies has always been sensitive.

The C.I.A. did not respond to an inquiry. In Tokyo, Katsuya Muraguchi, director of the Liberal Democratic Party's management bureau, said he had never heard of any payments.

"This story reveals the intimate role that Americans at official and private levels played in promoting structured corruption and one-party conservative democracy in post-war Japan, and that's new," said John Dower, a leading Japan scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. "We look at the L.D.P. and say it's corrupt and it's unfortunate to have a one-party democracy. But we have played a role in creating that misshapen structure."

SNIP...

The C.I.A.'s help for Japanese conservatives resembled other cold war operations, like secret support for Italy's Christian Democrats. But it remained secret -- in part, because it succeeded. The Liberal Democrats thwarted their Socialist opponents, maintained their one-party rule, forged close ties with Washington and fought off public opposition to the United States' maintaining military bases throughout Japan.

What happened to $100 billion in WWII loot? Ask Rev Moon

How $100mm in WWII stolen gold passed through post war Japan to the current day Republican Party

Feb 26, 2007

Consortium News has a new article out about the incredible amounts of gold and treasure looted from occupied Asia during WWII and how it shaped both post-war Japan AND the right-wing politics here in the US. While it isn't talked about much, it was decided by General McCarthy to use the loot to help finance the emergence of Japan's democracy. It also isn't mentioned to much that many of the key figures of Japan's WWII military government went on to because important post-war politicians in Japan's democracy. This same group has dominated Japan's politics ever since, reflected in the fact that almost every single Prime Minister since 1956 has been a member of the the LPD.

Japan's latest right-wing Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, comes from a political family whose lineage includes Nobusuke Kishi. Kishi was one of General Tojo's closest deputies and a Class A war criminal as a result of his role as one of the top officials in the occupied Manchuria (where much of the war booty came from). He was imprisoned after the war, but but never tried by the International Military Tribunal for the Far East. In 1952, the attempts to purge Japanese of its WWII leaders was rescinded, and Kishi went about building the LPD, and in doing so "managed to maintain contacts with the mainstream while also connecting the non-zaibatsu business community and selected parts of the discredited prewar world of ultra-nationalist politicians and control bureaucrats (tosei kanryo) to the postwar conservative hegemony." Kishi then went on to become Japan's Prime Minister in 1957.

Kishi formation of the LPD was also bankrolled by his allies Yoshio Kodama and Ryoichi Sasakawa, both of whom are major figures in the in the Japanese Criminal Underworld. Another organization that Kodama and Sasakawa helped bankroll just happens to be the good Reverend Sun Myung Moon's criminal enterprise. Both Kodama and Sasakawa also have long-standing ties to ultra-nationalist and fascist groups. They're good folks!

So that's some fun background history on Japanese politics. Now let's turn to this article on Consortium News and take a look at how $100 billion in hidden gold helped shape the post-war era, as well as our own politics here:
Why US Shields Japan's WWII Denials

    By Jerry Meldon
    February 24, 2007

On Feb. 19, Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso took exception to a U.S. congressional resolution introduced by Rep. Mike Honda, D-California, calling on Japan to "formally acknowledge, apologize and accept historical responsibility" for coercing 200,000 Asian women into slavery as "Comfort Women" (wartime prostitutes) for 3.5 million Japanese soldiers. Mr. Aso said he considers the accusation groundless and extremely regrettable.

Six decades after World War II, can it really be that Japanese officials are still distorting history and insulting the Chinese, Koreans, Philippinos and others across Asia whom Hirohito’ s forces savagely brutalized and robbed?

And why does Washington turn a deaf ear?

The answers may be rooted in what transpired behind closed doors in Tokyo when Japan was occupied by the U.S. military in the post-war years .

Sterling and Peggy Seagrave suggest a motive in their eye-opening – and at times stomach-turning – 2003 book, Gold Warriors: America’s Secret Recovery of Yamashita’s Gold. In the war’s immediate aftermath, Gen. Douglas MacArthur, commander-in-chief of Allied occupying forces, secretly joined hands with Japanese war criminals.
    ...

For those interested, here's a rather lengthy review and overview of Gold Warriors: America’s Secret Recovery of Yamashita’s Gold by Chalmers Johnson.

And here's an interview with one of the authors of the book, Peggy Seagrave: FTR #428 "Gold Warriors"

The article then goes on the describe how MacArthur coddled the very same leaders that led Japan during the war, coddling included some $100 billion in treasure...
The cover-up notwithstanding, the Seagraves somehow penetrated the veil of secrecy and reported that the source of the black money that MacArthur bestowed on the Japanese. They wrote that after arriving in Japan, the general’s aides located $100 billion in gold, platinum and other treasures that Hirohito’s forces had systematically plundered from occupied Asian nations and buried deep underground.

When MacArthur reported this to Washington, President Harry S. Truman’s brain trust – which included John McCloy, who as U.S. High Commissioner for Germany would authorize the early release of many Nazi war criminals – decided to devote the fortune to covert operations such as the bankrolling of rightist political parties and the recruitment of war criminals as U.S. intelligence agents for the Cold War that was just beginning.

    ...

38. Speaking of "undermining the Left"

I was at UC Berkeley in the late 70s and early 80s when Moonies infiltrated the city. At one point, you couldn't cross campus without being approached about converting to become a Moonie. I was told that if you attended one of their dinners they would serve starchy foods like mashed potatoes in order to make you more passive and receptive to the cult. I suspect that there was more involved than just "starchy foods". I had read later that the CIA was also involved in these efforts at Berkeley.

40. Breaking news, that. Makes a good peg on which to hang more stories.
It would be a shame if Rev Moon's testimony were to be lost at The Hague.

Speaking of near-brushes with eternity, Poppy has survived a few:

The TBM torpedo bomber under his command got shot down in World War II.
An explosion aboard the Saudi king's 747 en route to Kuwait City in 1993.
A private jet that went down at the end of the runway, perhaps a year or two ago.

The second has received near-zero attention in the press. At the time -- these guys were out of government, as Clinton had beaten Bush -- I worked at a daily. The photo desk had an interesting photo of a 747 with a hole in the wing.

The way I remember the story: The Emir of Kuwait of Saudi King Fahd had sent their personal jet to Houston to pick-up Poppy, Baker III, Cheney (maybe not Sneer, now that I think of it) and assorted Gulf War I types that had helped protect their oil fields kingdoms. As a thank you, the petro royals were literally going to shower Poppy and Crew with gold gifts and the whole nine yards.

Well, instead of their shower of gold, the jet left Houston and was out over the Gulf of Mexico when there was an explosion. The wire service said the pilots turned the aircraft around and nursed it back to Houston. IIRC a distance of several hundred miles. The initial reports were that it was a technical problem that caused the explosion.

I remember the black and white photo on the computer screen. The explosion looked like it had happened inside or below the wing. It was situated close to where the wing and fuselage meet. It looked about five to seven feet across. I remember thinking, "They are all lucky to be alive."

44. The Republican Right's Moonie Problem
Thank you my Friend! The same goes for You, libnnc!

Here's work from Gorenfeld and Neiwart:

The Republican Right's Moonie Problem

By David Neiwert, Firedoglake
Posted on March 21, 2008, Printed on March 22, 2008
http://www.alternet.org/bloggers/http://www.firedoglake.com//80446/

A number of folks -- notably Ezra Klein and Glenn Greenwald -- have already pointed out quite adroitly that while the media have had little compunction about whipping up a phony controversy about Barack Obama's "pastor problem", there's almost nothing that white evangelical pastors can say that might bring down similar approbation. John McCain's "spiritual advisers" Rod Parsley and John Hagee really are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this.

As Glenn puts it:
The phrases "anti-American" and "America-haters" are among the most barren and manipulative in our entire political lexicon, but whatever they happen to mean on any given day, they easily encompass people who believe that the U.S. deserved the 9/11 attacks, devastating hurricanes and the like. Yet when are people like Falwell, Robertson, Hagee, Inhofe and other white Christian radicals ever described as anti-American or America-hating extremists? Never -- because white Christian evangelicals who tie themselves to the political Right are intrinsically patriotic.

But the Republican right's biggest problem with having "America haters" as leading exponents of movement conservatism is someone who not only has claimed to be a spiritual mentor but is also a major financier of Republican causes: the Rev. Sun Myung Moon.
As John Gorenfeld explains in delightful and excruciating detail in his new book Bad Moon Rising: How Reverend Moon Created the Washington Times, Seduced the Religious Right and Built an American Kingdom , Moon has a long history of saying ugly things about the United States and about Americans.

And yet simultaneously, the largesse he spreads about the conservative movement has won him all kinds of friends, influence, and defenders, if not followers. Certainly, there is no one in the mainstream media who bothers to mention this, let alone play endless tape loops.

Here are some of the things Moon has said over the years, as Gorenfeld has detailed:
The whole world is in my hand, and I will conquer and subjugate the world. I will go beyond the boundary of the U.S., opening up the toll gate, reaching out to the end of the world. I will go forward, piercing through everything ...

When we are in our battle against the whole nation of the U.S. -- if you are truly in love with this nation, and if you love this nation more than anyone else, this nation will come into God's possession, and Satan will have nothing to do with it. ... With that as the bullet, we can smash the whole world.

Individualism is what God hates most, and Satan likes best.

God likes the idea of a monarchy, because it removes the cycles of election after election which can obscure the focus and direction of the nation.

The whole world is in my hand, and I will conquer and subjugate the whole world.

The time will come when, without my seeking it, that my words must serve as law.

We will be able to amend laws, articles of constitution, if we wish to do so.

Telling a lie becomes a sin if you tell it to take advantage of a person, but if you tell a lie to do a good thing ... that is not a sin ... Even God tells lies very often.

I have met many famous, so-called famous, Senators and Congressmen; but to my eyes they are nothing. They are weak and helpless. We will win the battle. This is our dream, our project. But shut your mouth tight.

After the demise of communism and the destruction of democracy, all that will remain will be the True Family and True Children system, centered upon True Parents . That is what is happening now.

America may boast of its virtues to the world, but look, democracy is now reaching the end of its rope. People thought democracy is the final anchor of the free world, but it is reaching its end. So what is left? America has been telling the weaker nations that they have to accept democracy, forcing them to receive so-called democracy. But look at America. It is rotten, top to bottom. There is nothing to be proud of, not their way of walking or talking or thinking.

When you hear me putting America down, your ears are not pleased. But if we continue living in this hub of the satanic world, this New York-DC area, we are in the darkness.
When Clinton and his policies come into being, the first opposition must come from Christianity. But Christianity has lost its center and its hope. For that reason, they have lost their power, and that is why Clinton was allowed to win the election. It was the failure of Christianity. This nation which is supposed to be Christian has been turned into almost a model nation for Satan, losing everything precious. People are losing their own identity, losing brotherhood, losing their own parents, and losing God. This nation has really become a playground for Satan.

Bush Praises Sun Myung Moon as 'Man of Vision'

07:10 Nov 25, 1996 EST
BUENOS AIRES
(Reuter) -

The South Korean evangelist Sun Myung Moon launched a new Spanish-language newspaper for the whole of Latin America this weekend, with the backing of guest George Bush who praised Moon's respect for editorial independence. The former U.S. president, guest speaker at a banquet Saturday to launch Moon's new publication ``Tiempos del Politics Mundo'' (Times of the World), was full of praise for the controversial evangelist's best-known newspaper, the Washington Times, and referred to Moon as ``the man with the vision.'' Bush then travelled with Moon to neighboring Uruguay Sunday to help him inaugurate a seminary in the capital Montevideo to train 4,200 young Japanese women to spread the word of his Church of Unification across Latin America.

Moon already owns a major newspaper, bank and hotel in Uruguay and is buying up land in the Argentine province of Corrientes, where he plans to construct what his followers call ``ideal cities''.

``I want to salute Reverend Moon who is the founder of the Washington Times and of the new paper here,'' said Bush, who was reported by the Washington Post to have been paid $100,000 for his Buenos Aires appearance.

``A lot of my friends in South America don't know about the Washington Times but it is an independent voice,'' said Bush. ''The editors of the Washington Times tell me that never once has the man with the vision interfered with the running of the paper, a paper that in my view brings sanity to Washington DC.''

``I am convinced that Tiempos del Mundo is going to do the same thing,'' said Bush, who managed to avoid being photographed with the 76-year-old South Korean evangelist during his whole stay in Buenos Aires.

SNIP...

Its Texan editor, Larry Moffitt, told Reuters the newspaper would come out on Sundays at first ``but go daily very quickly'' via satellite transmissions to editorial centers in 10 countries, including Argentina.

``Within a year we hope to be in every country in the hemisphere,'' Moffitt said. His circulation goals are ambitious: ``There are 300 million Spanish speaking people in the hemisphere. That sounds like a good number.''

65. Uruguay is where the CIA torturer, Daniel Mitrione plied his trade decades ago!
He worked first in Brazil then moved on to Uruguay, where he worked in a sound-proofed room, had people spirited off the streets, and used them as class room subjects for his pupils, members of the Uruguayan police, military, as he taught them torture techniques with equipment brought into the country and delivered to him in diplomatic pouches.

When Mitrione died,(being kidnapped and murdered (but not tortured!) by his intended victims) President Nixon hailed him a great American hero, and sent both his Sec. of State, William Rogers, and his son-in-law, David Eisenhower to the funeral, and Frank Sinatra and Jerry Lewis went into town earlier to throw an enormous benefit to raise money for Mitrione's family of 9 children.

Mitrione quotes:

THE NEW YORK TIMES, MONDAY, JUNE 11, 1979 A19

Torture’s Teachers
By A.J. Langguth

~snip~
"When you receive a subject, the first thing to do is to determine his physical state, his degree of resistance, through a medical examination. A premature death means a failure by the technician.

"Another important thing to know is exactly how far you can go given the political situation and the personality of the prisoner. It is very important to know beforehand whether we have the luxury of letting the subject die…

"Before all else, you must be efficient. You must cause only the damage that is strictly necessary, not a bit more. We must control our tempers in any case. You have to act with the efficiency and cleanliness of a surgeon and with the perfection of an artist…

Torture - as American as apple pie
excerpted from the book
Killing Hope
by William Blum

Dan Mitrione did not introduce the practice of torturing political prisoners to Uruguay It had been perpetrated by the police at times from at least the early 1960s. However, in surprising interview given to a leading Brazilian newspaper in 1970, the former Uruguayan Chief of Police Intelligence, Alejandro Otero, declared that US advisers, and in particular Mitrione, had instituted torture as a more routine measure; to the means of inflicting pain they had added scientific refinement; and to that a psychology to create despair, such as playing a tape in the next room of women and children screaming and telling the prisoners that it was his family being tortured.

56. Paul Sanford brought up ''Treason'' in regards to the outting of CIA officer Valerie Plame
Edited on Sun Jul-20-08 09:13 AM by Octafish
Thank you for remembering Mr. Sanford's very suspicious death. He was the first, if not the only journalist, to ask the obvious question:

Paul Sanford, a high-profile attorney who was also a member of the White House press corps in 2005, died of an ostensible "suicide leap." Sanford was the first reporter to ask then Press Secretary, Scott McClellan, "whether a violation of that statute would, in effect, constitute treason?" Sanford regularly championed the rights of the oppressed and robustly supported separation of church and state.

Free speech lawyer Paul Sanford dies in apparent suicide

By Matt King
Sentinel staff writer

Paul Sanford, an attorney who made his mark on Santa Cruz with
his defense of homeless and indigent residents and once
asked the U.S. Supreme Court to strike the words
"under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance, died
Sunday in an apparent suicide.

Seaside police believe that Sanford intentionally fell from at
least nine stories into the courtyard of the Embassy Suites
Hotel Monterey Bay about 920 a.m. Sunday, to the shock of
hotel patrons who were eating breakfast in the hotel
atrium.

snip

Sanford, 50, was raised in Boston and earned a master's degree
in political science at Boston College. He moved to Santa
Cruz about 20 years ago and in 1996 earned his law degree
from Monterey College of Law, where he also taught
Constitutional law classes and volunteered with the
school's small claims clinic. He worked at the Volunteer
Centers of Santa Cruz County for 14 years.

(Note from Rayelan The place he worked for is one of the NWO
controlled NGOs that I spoke about in the first post in
this thread... you will find many mind controlled people
working at places like this.)

snip

In 2004, Sanford appeared before the Supreme Court with
Michael Newdow, an atheist who sued the Elk Grove Unified
School District, claiming that the mention of God in the
Pledge of Allegiance violated the First Amendment's
separation of church and state.

The S&Ls, the Mob and the Bushs

EXCERPT...

Equally good examples of financial misconduct in the Savings and Loan scandal is found in the activities of the Bush family. In some cases Bush family members helped skim Savings and Loan funds which were delivered to outsiders as a part of deals involving lucrative payoffs to bank directors. In other cases, members of the Bush family intervened to influence decisions involving highly speculative and unsound investments involving loans that would not be repaid if the venture was not profitable. And finally, the Bush family’s political connection served to protect those guilty of misconduct in the Savings and Loan scandal (Kwitny, 1992: 24).

Neil Bush: Taking Down Silverado

In 1990 federal bank regulators filed a $200 million lawsuit against the officers of Silverado Banking, including Neil Bush, brother of the current President. The lawsuit accused them of gross negligence which resulted in a loss of $1 billion by Silverado and the bank’s ultimate collapse (Los Angeles Times, 1990). According to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation: “Our conclusion is that Silverado was the victim of sophisticated schemes and abuses by insiders and of gross negligence by its directors and outside professionals” (Johnston, 1990). Neil Bush was reprimanded by the Office of Thrift Supervision for pervasive conflicts of interest while serving as a paid director of the bank Of particular concern was his role in a serious of loans totaling $132 million from the bank to two businessmen, Bill Walters and Kenneth Good (Los Angeles Times, 1990: 1; Isikoff, 1992: A1). Walters and Good, after securing the loans from Silverado, lent Neil Bush $100,000 and later forgave the loan entirely. In addition, Walters and Good owned a company which paid $550,000 in salaries to Neil Bush (Los Angeles Times, 1990: 1; Isikoff, 1992: A1). In the end Walters and Good lost a total of $330 million loaned to them by Silverado. They also received instructions from a member of Silrverado’s board of directors on the establishment of family trusts to prevent the government from seizing the money they owed the bank (Kwitny, 1992: 32). The shutdown of Silverado was postponed from October to December 1988 so that it would happen after President Bush, Sr.’s election campaign had ended. Neil Bush had to pay only $50,000 to settle the federal lawsuit against him and he was able to avoid any legal costs because a senior banking industry lobbyist formed a legal defense fund to pay the legal costs (Fritz, 1992).

Neil Bush also profited enormously from another company on verge of bankruptcy. Apex Energy paid him over $2000,000 in salary and oil deed compensation payments while teetering on the edge of bankruptcy (Failing firm paid Neil Bush big salary, 1992).

Neil Bush’s small oil company also seemed to profit from its political connections when it was awarded a 1987 contract to drill for oil in Argentina (Bush 's Son Misses Deadline For Reporting “Inside” Sale,1991).

Jeb Bush: Influence Peddling for a “Bust-Out” Scam

But, Neil Bush was not the only Bush brother involved in the Savings and Loan collapses. Jeb Bush’s, the current Governor of Florida, curious relationship with Miguel Recarey is another illustration. Recarey was a long-time business associate of Tampa organized crime figure Santos Trafficante. Recarey also fled the U.S. facing three separate indictments for labor racketeering, illegal wiretapping and Medicare fraud (Freedburg, 1988: A1). Recarey’s business, International Medical Centers, was the largest health maintenance organization for the elderly in the U.S. and had been supported from $1 billion in payments from the Medicare program. International Medical Centers went bankrupt in 1988 (Freedburg, 1988: A1; Royce and Shaw, 1988: 4). When International Medical Centers went under it left $222 million in unpaid bills and was under investigation for $100 million in Medicare fraud (Freedbrug, 1988: A1; Frisby, 1992: G1). The U.S. Office of Labor Racketeering in Miami referred to Recarey and his company as “the classic case of embezzlement of government funds ... “a bust-out operation” (Freedburg, 1988: A1)

SNIP...

George Bush, Jr.: Insider Information, Oil, and Baseball

The present President Bush has also reaped significant benefits from some highly questionable business practices:

Bush sold $828,560 worth of Harken stock just one week before the company stock posted unusually poor quarterly earnings and Harken stock plunged sharply. Shares lost more than 60% of their value over 6 months. When Bush sold his shares, he was a member of a company committee studying the effect of Harken’s restructuring, a move to appease anxious creditors. According to documents on file with the Securities and Exchange Commission, his position on the Harken committee gave Bush detailed knowledge of the company’s deteriorating financial condition. The SEC received word of Bush’s trade eight months late. Bush has said he filed the notice but that is was lost (Hedges, 1992: 57-59).

At the time of the stock sale President Bush was fully aware that Harken Energy was in a serious cash flow crisis and was about to lose millions of dollars (Yost, 2000). Bush was investigated for insider trading, but on October 18, 1993, Bruce A. Hiler, the SEC’s associate director for enforcement, wrote a letter to Bush’s lawyer stating that “the investigation has been terminated as to the conduct of Mr. Bush, and that, at this time, no enforcement action is contemplated with respect to him” (Lardner and Romano, 1999: A1). Hiler’s official letter went on to say that it “must in no way be construed as indicating that the party has been exonerated or that no action may ultimately result from the staff’s investigation” (Lardner and Romano, 1999:) It is instructive to note that head of the SEC at the time of investigation was a supporter of then-President Bush, as was the SEC’s general counsel (who later acted as George W. Bush’s private attorney) (Yost 2000). In addition, Harken, despite its poor performance and large losses, paid unusually high salaries and benefits to President Bush (Hedges, 1992: 57-59). Bush was allowed to purchase stock options at a 40% discount, paid for by company loans that were frequently forgiven (Hedges, 1992: 57-59).

69. The Dark Side of Rev. Sun Myung Moon -- guy's a child predator.
Agree completely, windoe: Honey pots and money laundries.

And they use their power and money to generate propaganda in order to "create their own realities" -- as well as destroy those who tell the truth, real journalists like Robert Parry:

The Dark Side of Rev. Sun Myung Moon

Part 4, Truth, Legend & Lies

By Robert Parry
Consortium News
August 25, 1997

For a decade and a half, the Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Washington Times has pushed deeper and deeper into Washington's political mainstream. Though viewed initially as a quirky right-wing propaganda sheet, the newspaper now gets the respect that is afforded few other daily American newspapers. Given its strategic spot in Washington, many of its stories are picked up nationally; its columnists are regulars on TV talk shows; and C-SPAN's Brian Lamb often hoists the front page before a national cable audience.

More broadly, the Times' day-in-day-out treatment of issues shapes the parameters of journalistic attitudes in the nation's capital. Yet, since its founding in 1982, the paper has held itself above traditional journalistic principles of balance and objectivity.

During the 1980s, the Times gushed with favorable stories about Ronald Reagan and his White House while pouring abuse on presidential critics. Moon's paper was an important Republican weapon in congressional battles and electoral campaigns, such as when it spread false rumors about Michael Dukakis's mental health in 1988.

President Reagan and his successor, George Bush, recognized the Times' contributions. Reagan hailed it as his "favorite" newspaper, and in 1991, when Wesley Pruden was elevated to editor-in-chief, Bush invited him to a private White House lunch "just to tell you how valuable the Times has become in Washington, where we read it every day."

After President Clinton's inauguration, the newspaper quickly flipped in its attitude toward the White House -- from watch dog to attack dog. As Allan Freedman reported in the Columbia Journalism Review, the paper hammered at Clinton's "scandal-and-screw-up" with scoops on Whitewater and on the death of deputy White House counsel Vincent Foster. "The competition followed these stories, but the time and energy the Times devoted to them helped drive the news," Freedman wrote in March 1995.

Morals Charges

But in South Korea, Moon's early religious recruitment of young idealistic college students, especially from an all-girls Christian school, landed him in hot water again. The South Korean government arrested Moon in 1955 for allegedly conducting more sexual "purification" rites, according to several U.S. intelligence reports which are now public. Moon was freed three months later because none of the young women would testify for fear of public humiliation, according to an undated FBI summary, released under a Freedom of Information Act request.

"During the next two years in the national news media of South Korea, Rev. Moon was the butt of scandalist humor," the FBI report stated. By the late 1950s, however, Moon had managed to build a small cadre of followers. He also was reaching out beyond Korea, sending his first missionaries to Japan and the United States.

Church officials repeatedly have denied the reports of Moon's sexual rituals. But the charges received new attention in 1993 with the Japanese publication of The Tragedy of the Six Marys -- a book by the early Moon disciple, Pak Chung Hwa, whom Moon supposedly carried to South Korea. According to Pak's book, Moon taught that Jesus was supposed to save mankind by having sex with six already-married women who would then have sex with other men who would pass on the purification to other women until, eventually, all mankind would have pure blood.

Pak contended that Moon took on this responsibility as the second messiah. But Pak alleged that Moon abused the practice by turning the "six Marys" into a kind of rotating sex club. Pak wrote that Moon's first wife divorced him after catching him in a sex ritual. In all, Pak estimated that there were at least 60 "Marys," many of whom ended up destitute after Moon discarded them.

Setting Up Shop in N. Korea: Car Firm Plunges In

Asia: Company linked to Sun Myung Moon's church is to open an assembly plant in April.

By BARBARA DEMICK
TIMES STAFF WRITER
March 28 2002

SEOUL --At first glance, there couldn't be a more improbable business proposition than opening an automobile factory in North Korea, where hardly anybody owns a car or knows how to drive. Even more surprising is that the company making this investment is an affiliate of the Unification Church, headed by the thumpingly anti-communist Rev. Sun Myung Moon.

Against all odds, Pyonghwa Motors next month is opening a $55-million auto assembly plant where there once were rice paddies in the western coastal city of Nampo. It is one of the largest private ventures in North Korea, a bastion of militant communism that only recently has cracked open its doors to foreign investment in a desperate quest for hard currency.

"This country was so closed that nobody, not God, not Buddha, could get in the last 50 years without a visa," Park Sang Kwon, the president of Pyonghwa Motors, said at a news conference Friday in Seoul, the South Korean capital, where the company is headquartered. "Nobody, even in my own company, believed it was possible to build an automobile in North Korea. Only I believed." Initially, the assembly line will turn out Fiat Sienas, a compact model, but Pyonghwa Motors hopes to develop its own model for the North Koreans.

The communist government, which also owns a stake in the company, has contracted to buy 1,000 cars in the first year. After that, the company hopes to sell vehicles in China, Russia and, if the political situation allows, South Korea. The plant has the potential to turn out 20,000 cars a year.

Sometime after 2009, when historians pick through the wreckage left behind by George W. Bush’s administration, they will have to come to grips with the role played by the professional conservative media infrastructure.

Indeed, it will be hard to comprehend how Bush got two terms as President of the United States, ran up a massive debt, and misled the country into at least one disastrous war – without taking into account the extraordinary influence of the conservative media, from Fox News to Rush Limbaugh, from the Washington Times to the Weekly Standard.

Recently, it’s been revealed, too, that the Bush administration paid conservative pundits Armstrong Williams and Maggie Gallagher while they promoted White House policies. Even fellow conservatives have criticized those payments, but the truth is that the ethical line separating conservative “journalism” from government propaganda has long since been wiped away.

For years now, there’s been little meaningful distinction between the Republican Party and the conservative media machine.

In 1982, for instance, South Korean theocrat Sun Myung Moon established the Washington Times as little more than a propaganda organ for the Reagan-Bush administration. In 1994, radio talk show host Limbaugh was made an honorary member of the new Republican House majority.

The blurring of any ethical distinctions also can be found in documents from the 1980s when the Reagan-Bush administration began collaborating secretly with conservative media tycoons to promote propaganda strategies aimed at the American people.

I know you know that things are getting mighty weird.
It's like half of the press knows Bush and Co are nothing
but lying, warmongering, mass-murdering, gangsters, thieves, frauds and traitors.
The truth is known, but the bosses won't allow it to be broadcast.
That would mean torches and pitchfork time.
We must continue working to awaken the other half.
And that includes many who claim they wear the mantle of awake.
Fair and legal trial before a jury of their peers would be fine.

36. Octafish thank you. Thank you for posting on weekends. That's
when I do a huge amount of reading helping to connect the dots. I read a while back someone wrote 'they' don't care how long it takes to reach their goal <NWO>. Everytime I think I want to be around for their asses hauled off to The Hague, I think of that. Patience IS a virtue. Things are moving speedy now that we're getting close to an 'election'. Too much really good important information all at once, and I doubt that it is unintentional. As for there being an election..

You're welcome, bluesmail! Thank you for understanding what is going on and what it is we need to do.

Enemies of America: Bush Family & Sun Myung Moon

by OSWALD LEWINTER

(Editor’s Note: The recent coronation of ‘Rev.’ Sun Myung Moon as Emperor-Messsiah in Washington’s Dirksen Senate Building on March 23, 2004 shows the face of the Shining Dragon and his minions in America)

The most serious Bush-Moon story remains invisible to TV audiences. To unravel the mystery, look at Moon’s history and stated agenda and explore the Bush family’s activities as related to Moon. First, there is evidence that Moon is openly anti-American and anti-democratic, with an agenda that includes undermining American democracy and individualism.

These are only some of the reasons why a deeper investigation into the Moon-Bush alliance is worthwhile: Frederick Clarkson (Eternal Hostility, Common Courage Press, 1997) reports that Moon has stated his goal is the “subjugation of the American government and population.” (Clarkson’s source: John Judis, “Rev. Moon’s Rising Political Influence: His Empire Is Spending Big Money To Try To Win Favor With Conservatives,” U.According to the same U. S. News article, Moon also said, “History will make the position of Rev. Moon clear,” and that “his enemies, the American people and government will bow down before him.”

Clarkson reports that Moon has also said, “The entire world is our goal... Absolute obedience to the Father -that one thing will bring certain victory... People here in America have to recognize the ability and power of Reverend Moon.” (Excerpt from New Hope News, November 25, 1974, Reprinted in Frederick Miller’s “Confusion at the Fronts, Part three,” True Light Educational Ministry, 1996.)

On May 1, 1997, Moon told a group of followers that “the country that represents Satan’s harvest is America.” (Unification News, June 1997.) In the 1970s, Moon was investigated by a congressional committee headed by then-U. S. Representative Donald Fraser (D-MN). Robert Boettcher was staff director of the Fraser committee.

Boettcher’s interviews with former Moonies revealed that Moon was “appalled” by American individualism and considered moving to Germany “where people were trained in totalitarianism.” (Robert Boettcher, “Gifts of Deceit: Sun Myung Moon, Tongsun Park and the Korean Scandal,” Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1980)

Boettcher further writes that according to former Unification church members, Moon’s program to “instill discipline” included showing “Nazi films on organizing Hitler Youth.”

Moon’s anti-American, anti-democratic rantings might seem harmless if expressed by an individual with no political clout. However, the wealthy, influential Moon has worked successfully to gain a power base among conservative Republicans. In an effort to gain political influence, Moon has worked his tentacles into the news media.

Bush family Moon

by Bill Berkowitz

April 22, 2007 - 9:04am

When former President George H.W. Bush takes the stage to deliver the keynote address in honor of the 25th anniversary of the ultra-conservative Washington Times newspaper in mid-May, it will not be the first time he has spoken in support of one of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon's enterprises.

And whatever fee Bush will realize from his appearance is only one aspect of what author Kevin Philips has termed Moon's "close" relationship with the Bush family.

While the elder Bush -- and other family members -- have benefited both financially and politically from this relationship with Moon, the head of the Unification Church has a more varied agenda in mind, one that includes a pardon from current President George W. Bush.

(In the 1980s, Moon served a 13-month sentence in jail for tax evasion. Not wanting "convicted felon" as part of his legacy, he is hoping for a pardon before Bush leaves office.)

The Bush family/Moon relationship dates back "to the overlap between Bush's one-year tenure as CIA director (1976) and the arrival of in Washington of Moon, whose Unification Church was widely reported to be a front group for the South Korean Central Intelligence Agency ," Phillips wrote in his bestselling book "American Dynasty -- Aristocracy, Fortune, and the Politics of Deceit in the House of Bush."

During a time when the activities of the KCIA were the subject of a U.S. congressional investigation -- dubbed Koreagate -- Phillips pointed out that "within Washington councils, Bush was a powerful voice against any unnecessary crackdown on the U.S. activities of allied intelligence services."

"One of George H.W. Bush's first tasks as director of the CIA was managing the 'Koreagate' scandal, in which the government of South Korea and its intelligence agents had waged espionage against the U.S, government," Fred Clarkson, the author of "Eternal Hostility: The Struggle Between Theocracy and Democracy" -- which includes a chapter on the Moon organization -- told me in an e-mail exchange.

"Some of those agents were leading members of Moon's Unification church. Some members managed to infiltrate Congressional staffs -- primarily Democrats," he said.

During the 1980s, Moon's Washington Times consistently supported the Ronald Reagan-Bush team in its version of the events surrounding the Iran-Contra scandal. According to Clarkson, "the Moon organization was part of the private supply lines to the Nicaraguan contras, The Washington Times was given special access and provided consistently flattering coverage and the newspaper also set up a special fund for private funding of the contras."

In 1996, the relationship became decidedly financial when the former president traveled to Latin America to help Moon launch Tiempos del Mundo (Times of the World). At the time Bush called Moon's flagship U.S. publication, the Washington Times, "an independent voice" and assured the crowd that "Tiempos del Mundo... the same thing." According to published reports Bush received at least 100,000 dollars for his participation in that event.

SNIP...

But perhaps the most tangible aspect of the close relationship between the Bush family and Rev. Moon is the unbending support the Washington Times has given to George W. Bush since he announced he was running for the presidency. In recent years, the newspaper's editorial and opinion pages have consistently supported the president's "war on terror" and war in Iraq.

77. The Dark Side of Rev. Sun Myung Moon - Drug Allies

Odd who turns up at the intersection of Money and Drug streets.

The Dark Side of Rev. Sun Myung Moon

Part 6, Drug Allies

By Robert Parry
ConsortiumNews.com
October 13, 1997

Amid debates over the 115-year-old Pendleton Act and whether it covers fund-raising phone calls from the White House, a more sinister money-in-politics issue continues to go unnoticed: the vast political influence-buying operation of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon. The Clinton administration appears no more interested in where Moon’s mysterious millions originate than was the Reagan-Bush administrations which benefitted from Moon’s largesse.

Our recent series, “Dark Side of Rev. Moon,” documented how Moon’s organization purchased influence through secret payments to key political figures, including former President George Bush and Religious Right leader Jerry Falwell. Moon also financed costly media outlets, such as The Washington Times. Moon has built this U.S. network even as he tells his followers that America is “Satan’s harvest” and vows to subjugate the American people under a Korea-based theocracy.

The series also revealed that Moon’s organization still engages in questionable financial practices. According to court records, the Moon organization has been laundering money and diverting funds to buy personal luxuries for Moon’s family, including cocaine for Moon’s son, Hyo Jin. The financial sleights-of-hand are reminiscent of offenses that led to Moon’s conviction for tax evasion in 1982.

But since our series ran, more troubling facts about Moon’s international political connections have been brought to our attention. Most disturbing, given Moon’s free-spending ways, are his long-standing ties to ultra-rightists linked to Asian organized crime and to the Latin American drug trade. These associations -- and Moon’s deepening business operations in South America -- underscore the need for the U.S. government to ascertain exactly how Moon is financing his U.S. political empire.

Moon’s representatives refuse to detail publicly how they sustain their far-flung operations. But they angrily rebut recurring allegations about profiteering off illegal trafficking in weapons and drugs.

In a typical response to a gun-running question by the Argentine newspaper, Clarin, Moon’s representative Ricardo DeSena responded, “I deny categorically these accusations and also the barbarities that are said about drugs and brainwashing. Our movement responds to the harmony of the races, nations and religions and proclaims that the family is the school of love.”

But Moon’s relationships with drug-tainted gangsters and corrupt right-wing politicians go back to the early days of his Unification Church in Asia. Moon’s Korea-based church made its first important inroads in Japan in the early 1960s after gaining the support of Ryoichi Sasakawa, a leader of the Japanese yakuza crime syndicate who once hailed Italian dictator Benito Mussolini as “the perfect fascist.” In Japan and Korea, the shadowy yakuza ran lucrative drug smuggling, gambling and prostitution rings.

The Sasakawa connection brought Moon both converts and clout because Sasakawa was a behind-the-scenes leader of Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party. On the international scene, Sasakawa helped found the Asian People’s Anti-Communist League, which united the heroin-stained leadership of Nationalist China with rightists from Korea, Japan and elsewhere in Asia.

In 1966, the Asian league evolved into the World Anti-Communist League with the inclusion of former Nazis from Europe, overt racialists from the United States and “death squad” operatives from Latin America, along with more traditional conservatives. Moon’s followers played important roles in both organizations, which also maintained close ties to the CIA.

South American Drugs

Meanwhile, after World War II, South America was becoming a crossroads for Nazi fugitives and drug smugglers. Nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie, the so-called Butcher of Lyons, earned his living in Bolivia by selling his intelligence skills, while other ex-Nazis trafficked in narcotics. Often the lines crossed.

In those years, Auguste Ricord, a French war criminal who had collaborated with the Gestapo, set up shop in Paraguay. Ricord opened up French Connection heroin channels to American Mafia drug kingpin Santo Trafficante Jr., who controlled much of the heroin traffic into the United States. Columns by Jack Anderson identified, Ricord’s accomplices as some of Paraguay’s highest-ranking officers.

During President Nixon’s “war on drugs,” U.S. authorities smashed this famous French Connection and won extraditions of Ricord and David in 1972.

But by then, powerful drug lords had forged strong ties to South America’s military leaders. Other Trafficante-connected groups, including right-wing anti-Castro Cubans in Miami, eagerly filled the drug void. Heroin from the Golden Triangle of Southeast Asia quickly replaced the French Connection heroin that had come mostly from the Middle East.

During this period, the CIA actively collaborated with right-wing army officers to oust left-leaning governments. And amid this swirl of anti-communism, Moon became active in South America. His first visit to Argentina was in 1965 when he blessed a square behind the presidential Pink House in Buenos Aires. He returned a decade later and began making high-level contacts in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia and Uruguay.

More Moon Money Flows to Bush Family

By Larry Zilliox Thu May 03, 2007 at 08:37:29 PM EST print story

EXCERPT...

Funding for the Washington Times Foundation comes primarily from the mysterious International Peace Foundation (IPF). The source of the funds IPF donated to the Washington Times Foundation are not known and most likely are untraceable because IPF does not appear to be a legally incorporated entity. The IPF address listed in the Washington Times Foundation tax return is the Unification Movement-owned building at 7777 Leesburg Pike in Falls Church Virginia. A check of the Internal Revenue Service online directory of organizations recognized as exempt failed to find a listing for IPF. A check of GuideStar database of non-profit organizations also found no listing.

IPF was originally incorporated in the District of Columbia in 1988. A check of the District of Columbia online corporate registrations web page shows the status of IPF as "Revoked." District of Columbia corporate records identify Moon's long time right-hand man Bo Hi Pak as an original officer of the organization. Pak has a history of leading many Moon connected businesses and non-profit organizations in the Washington, DC area. One of the oldest organizations with which Pak is associated is the Korean Cultural Freedom Foundation. Pak, serving as Chairman, mismanaged the organization so badly it fell victim to one of the largest Nigerian Fraud Scams in US history. In 2001 and 2002 the Korean Cultural Freedom Foundation reported in it's IRS Form 990 tax return that it had lost nearly $3,000,000 to scammers.

In Virginia, where the Washington Times Foundation tax form lists IPF's current address, the Virginia State Corporation Commission records show the status for IPF as revoked in 2004. The Commission's online database of corporate registrations indicates the online record details for the entity have been purged from their system as of 12/31/2004.

This revelation of money donated to a charity associated with the Bush family is just the latest in a string of donations and payments dating back more than ten years. George H. W. Bush has had a long association with Moon going back to just after he left office. In September 1995 Bush and his wife gave a number of speeches in Asia for the Women's Federation for World Peace an organization headed by Moon's wife Hak Ja Han Moon. In November 1996 Bush spoke in Buenos Aires at a banquet honoring the opening of Moon's South American newspaper Tiempos del Mundo Bush refused to disclose how much he was paid for his Moon-sponsored speaking tour.

In 2003 the Washington Times Foundation funneled a $1,000,000 donation to the Bush Presidential Library through the Greater Houston Community Foundation. In 2005 the Moon sponsored Interreligious and International Federation for World Peace made a donation of $1,000,000, it's largest donation of the year, to the senior Bush's Points of Light Foundation for Hurricane Katrina relief.

The Bush 2005 Inaugural Committee received the maximum $250,000 donation from Moon's Washington Television Center the entity that owns the large office building at 650 Massachusetts Avenue in the District of Columbia. In December 2005 the President's younger brother, Neil, was spotted touring Taiwan and the Philippines with Moon. Less than a year later Business Week published an article titled "No Bush Left Behind" profiling Neil Bush's company Ignite!, Inc. The company sells a high tech teaching aid called "Curriculum on Wheels" or COWs. The article states "A foundation linked to the controversial Reverend Sun Myung Moon has donated $1 million for a COWs research project in Washington ( D.C.)-area schools."

"During the high pressure heyday of the cult, several members fell to their death from its heights."

The video goes on to describe how Moon's organizations have been given millions of dollars by the current Bush administration for doing basically nothing (except repeating Moon's words to American youth).

80. Dear Leader's Paper Moon
Weird how Moon and Poppy are friends with Dictators. Dim Son, too, of course.

Dear Leader's Paper Moon

The Washington Times considers North Korea a “gulag state.” But funny thing: The paper's owner considers it a great place to do business.

John Gorenfeld
The American Prospect
June 19, 2005

Moon's speeches foresee an apocalyptic confrontation involving the United States, Russia, China, Japan, and North and South Korea, in which the Moon Organization would play a key role. Under these circumstances, the subcommittee believes it is in the interest of the United States to know what control Moon and his followers have over instruments of war and to what extent they are in a position to influence Korean defense policies.”

-- U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee report, “Investigation of Korean-American Relations,” October 31, 1978

Several years ago, the communist dictator of North Korea decided to send a birthday gift to a special friend. The gift was a rare ginseng root, and the recipient, given the ideology of the sender, may seem at first blush to be a surprise: the Reverend Sun Myung Moon, self-proclaimed messiah and proud owner of Washington's flagship right-wing newspaper, The Washington Times.

Their relationship, in fact, is based on more than the exchange of baubles. Moon once claimed that Kim Jong-Il has extended an invitation to reside permanently in his totalitarian paradise. “He tells me,” Moon once recalled in a sermon about Kim, “‘I will give you a comfortable place if you come here, and the people will appreciate you more here.'”

One has a reputation as the world's most volatile ruler and is seen as a potential nuclear threat to the United States. The other is known as a media tycoon who rarely gets mentioned these days, existing chiefly in fading memories of young people marrying strangers during mass ceremonies at Madison Square Garden. Both are subjects of cultish veneration by their respective faithful.

Wherever Kim goes, storm clouds seem to shrink from gathering, according to the North Korean news service (which also lauds the “Dear Leader” as a better golfer than Tiger Woods, routinely shooting three or four holes-in-one per round), while Moon claims to be able to speak with the dead. Each man's followers fervently believe that he exists beyond the plane of normal human experience.

In the material world, however, the flourishing relationship between the Unification Church and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea raises difficult questions for the conservative Republicans who have built The Washington Times with Moon's billions -- and about the extent to which he, his aides, and his front organizations, including his daily newspaper, have collaborated with the North Korean dictatorship.

49. The Good Shepherds
The CIA as we know it was really the creation of Prescott Bush and George HW Bush has always been one of the good shepherds and when one good shepherd turns bad he or she is disposed of and sometimes disposed of by allowing them to fall off of roofs.

The CIA should be dissolved by Congress and one reason why it should do so is the false information it provided to justify the "war on terror."

The real enemy of this country is within. And within both parties. The aim of the Bushes has been the same aim of those who have supported them through the years which was to overthrow this government by controlling the government and doing so by establishing one party which has been masked by the pretense of our having two parties.

The real threat to them is Barack Obama and the reason why he is a threat to them is because he will restore this country back to the principle of "by the people, for the people."

People should really read about the death of columnist Dorothy Kilgallen whose cause of death was never determined by the coroner. She had been working on a story about the Warren Commission and the assassination of JFK when she supposedly overdosed on sleeping pills. She was found in bed. She had been reading a book. The problem was her reading glasses were found downstairs. Someone put the book in her lap and forgot the glasses. The story she was working on was never found. Not even any of her notes.

Some people fall off of buildings. Some people are found dead with a book in their lap. And their reading glasses are found downstairs.

Many who knew her were shocked by her death. Initially there was a discrepancy with regard to whether she had a heart attack or a stroke.

If she were murdered, what did she know that worried someone? Was it about the Bushes or about the Bushes and the Clintons?

Everyone knows she was married to Averell Harriman but what many don't know is that she had an affair with Averell Harriman during World War II and was privy to the relationship between the Harrimans and the Bushes and their support of Hitler as well as her father-in-law's support of Hitler since she was married to Winston Churchill's son. Perhaps she put it aside at the time. Perhaps years later she realized she couldn't.

Some people fall off of buildings. Some people are found dead with a book in their lap. And their reading glasses are found downstairs.

And some are found dead at a table by the pool at the Ritz in Paris.

52. President Al Gore
Pamela Harriman had intended for Al Gore to be the nominee in 1992 until Bob Strauss and Ann Richards suggested Bill Clinton might be the better nominee. Ann Richards most likely was following her Pied Piper. And the Pied Piper, it turned out, was a friend of George HW Bush. Al Gore was to be the heir apparent. But the heir apparent was George W Bush.

53. Gore's son had been seriously injured in a car accident
I genuinely believe that this was the real reason that Gore did not run in 1992. He could not have taken the year needed away from his family at that point, which is commendable. Gore had been the DLC's supported candidate in 1988, but he ended up doing extremely poorly - I think getting about 3% of the vote. Gore in 1992, was very conservative and hawkish. Many here who love him now would never have supported him in 1992.

The person who likely could have easily could have won was Cuomo who was Hamlet like in deciding whether to run or not.

62. I honestly think Cuomo decided not to run because someone threatened his family.
Geraldine Ferraro saw her husband, John Zaccaro, accused of dealing with the Mafia during her run at VP. I have no idea of the truth of those allegations, but a well placed lie could have destroyed Andrew Cuomo's career before it ever started. After all, aren't all successful Italians tied to the Mafia? :sarcasm:

If Cuomo had run, Clinton would never have been the nominee. I've always thought that Clinton had a hand in this, but it may be that other people thought that Clinton would be easier to beat than Cuomo.

67. I never heard the MAFIA accusation, just some business irregularities
the details of which I don't remember. You could be right that Cuomo simply was reluctant to go through all that. He did see what Dukakis went through 4 years earlier. The fact that they were willing to attack Kitty was a new low. I can't picture Clinton being involved in stopping him as I doubt he even had the resources to do so.

55. More Moon craziness: America will be "digested." Become an absolute object, ladies.

"'America has become the kingdom of individualism, and its people are individualists,' Moon preached in Tarrytown, N. Y., on March 5, 1995. 'You must realize that America has become the kingdom of Satan.'

In similar remarks to followers on Aug. 4, 1996, Moon vowed that the church's eventual dominance over the United States would be followed by the liquidation of American individualism. 'Americans who continue to maintain their privacy and extreme individualism are foolish people,' Moon declared. 'The world will reject Americans who continue to be so foolish. Once you have this great power of love, which is big enough to swallow entire America, there may be some individuals who complain inside your stomach. However, they will be digested."

During the same sermon, Moon decried assertive American women. 'American women have the tendency to consider that women are in the subject position,' he said. 'However, woman's shape is like that of a receptacle. The concave shape is a receiving shape. Whereas, the convex shape symbolizes giving. . . . Since man contains the seed of life, he should plant it in the deepest place.

'Does woman contain the seed of life? Absolutely not. Then if you desire to receive the seed of life, you have to become an absolute object. In order to qualify as an absolute object, you need to demonstrate absolute faith, love and obedience to your subject. Absolute obedience means that you have to negate yourself 100 percent.'"

81. 'Coooooncave and Cooooonvex!'' says the Moonie David Brooks
Digested is code for "tossed from rooftop."

The stuff that comes out of Moon's mouth is completely sane compared to what David Brooks spews.

Sometimes the Truth is Friggin' Bizarre

by Scoobie Davis

May 8, 2006—SAN DIEGO (scoobiedavis.blogspot.com)—In David Brooks's latest column, titled "The Paranoid Style," (read it free here ) he writes:

Needless to say, (Kevin) Phillips's book (American Theocracy) is rife with bizarre assertions. (Phillips) writes that "many Orthodox Jewish females cannot even study the Torah," that the Rev. Sun Myung Moon "has been close to the Bush family," that the American Revolution was "in many ways a religious war."

Brooks's flippant treatment of Phillips' claim about the Bush family and Sun Myung Moon illustrates how dysfunctional Washington culture is and how clueless the nation's press corps and punditocracy are about how Moon has become a huge power player in Washington.

For those of you reading this unfamiliar with Moon, here's a brief tutorial: Sun Myung Moon established the Unification Church in 1954 because he claimed that Jesus appeared to him and authorized him to do the work left unaccomplished after His crucifixion (Moon has since claimed that his messiahship was endorsed by Buddha, Muhammad, and every dead U.S. president). Moon's church grew rapidly in membership and funds even though Moon was arrested by South Korean authorities who were suspicious about Moon's rather convenient claim that God endowed his penis with the authority to "bless the wombs" of young women in his flock. In 1971, after amassing a fortune from the labors of his devotees and establishing close connections with Park Chung Hee's authoritarian regime in South Korea, Moon decided he had bigger fish to fry and moved to the United States. Throughout the 1970's, Moon courted the powerful (such as President Nixon) and the church spent millions spreading Moon's message of world unity to Americans. As a result, the Unification Church experienced a (small) influx of upper-middle class college students in its ranks.

However, by the end of the 1970's, Moon's effort to convert America to Moonie principles was a dismal failure; in a 1979 survey of American attitudes of 155 well-known people, Moon was ranked 154th--the only person ranked behind Moon was Charles Manson. The reason: Most Americans are sane people; the more they learned about Moon, the less they liked him. They didn't like the idea of a self-proclaimed messiah calling for the destruction of American democracy (which he calls "Satan's Harvest") and the establishment of a one-world theocracy in which Moon rules and dissenters are "digested." I suspect it also rankled many Americans that a messiah who had unleashed his divine blessing rod on the lotus blossoms of naive female devotees would claim that American women were descended from "a line of prostitutes." They didn't like the idea of their children being recruited to spend long hours hawking flowers and trinkets so that Moon could live like a king.

Then, again, Brooks is paid to say that crap.

60. k & r. I read through this and of course the informative comments last night
but felt too disheartened to post.

Thank you Octafish. Do you believe Obama will address this (and * criminality in general) or will sweep it under the rug like bill Clinton?

61. You could write a book, "Dead Men Tell No Tales."
The most notorious "suicide" was Danny Casolaro.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Casolaro

Casolaro's investigation of the Inslaw case began in early 1990. He hoped to write a true crime book about his investigation.

The Inslaw affair had been in the news from the mid-1980s: In his previous position with the U.S. Justice Department, Bill Hamilton (Inslaw, Inc.'s founder) helped to develop a computer software program called PROMIS (Prosecutor's Management Information System). PROMIS was designed to better organize the large amounts of paperwork generated by law enforcement and the courts. After he left the Justice Department, Hamilton alleged that the Justice Department had stolen PROMIS and illegally distributed it, robbing Inslaw of millions of dollars.

Casolaro and Hamilton began pooling their resources and sharing information as they tried to learn about the Inslaw scandal. One of Casolaro's major sources was Michael Riconosciuto, who Casolaro dubbed "Danger Man". (Corn, 512) Riconosciuto had been introduced to the Hamiltons by "Jeff Steinberg, a longtime top aid in the Lyndon LaRouche organization." (Corn, 512) Riconosciuto contacted the Hamiltons on May 18, 1990. According to Corn, Riconosciuto "asserted that he and Brian had traveled to Iran in 1980 and paid $40 million to Iranian officials to persuade them not to let the hostages go before the presidential election." (Corn, 512) For his help in the so-called "October Surprise", Brian was allegedly allowed to profit from the illegal pirating of the PROMIS system. (Corn also notes that Brian, a close friend of Attorney General Ed Meese, denied any involvement in the October Surprise or the Inslaw case).

Riconosciuto claimed to have modified Inslaw's software at the Justice Department's request, so that it could be sold to dozens of foreign governments with a secret "back door" feature that allowed outsiders to access computer systems using PROMIS. (Ridgeway and Vaughan, 34) These modifications allegedly took place mostly at the Cabazon Indian Reservation near Indio, California, according to Riconosciuto. Because the reservation was sovereign territory where enforcement of U.S. law was sometimes problematic, Riconosciuto said that he also worked on "semi-legal" and illegal weapons programs for Wackenhut, such as a powerful "fuel air explosive".

This is a link to a list of famous "suicides" and possible suicides. Perhaps someone can peruse the list and find other connections. I seem to remember a female journalist who was in Austria, maybe (?) who supposedly jumped off a roof. My memory isn't clear about the details, except there was some sort of controversy about it.

66. Here's more on that Neil Bush photo:
Neil Bush (C), younger brother of US President George W. Bush, leaves the presidential palace after a meeting with Paraguayan President Nicaron Duarte in Asuncion, on February 28, 2008. Bush is in Paraguay with a delegation of the Federation for Universal Peace, headed by South Korean reverend Sun Myung Moon.

~snip~
A photo from Getty Images by AFP/Getty Images ( http://www.daylife.com/photo/009G5legtieb5/Sun_Myung_Moon ) showed Neil Bush leaving the presidential palace after a meeting with President Duarte on February 28, 2008.

Getty Images captioned the photo: "5 days ago: Neil Bush (C), younger brother of US President George W. Bush, leaves the presidential palace after a meeting with Paraguayan President Nicaron Duarte in Asuncion, on February 28, 2008. Bush is in Paraguay with a delegation of the Federation for Universal Peace, headed by South Korean reverend Sun Myung Moon."

One veteran Moon watcher filled in the blanks for Talk2Action:

From left to right, the first person is Dr. Thomas G. Walsh, the Secretary General of UPF;
Second from the left is Antonio Betancourt, a "long time Moon follower" who currently is the Director of Government Relations of UPF International and "Character Education," and who was a major player in "what was formerly called the Summit Council for World Peace or Summit Council, ...a group active in Moon's effort to unite North and South Korea, to save the `Fatherland' and to form Moon's sovereign nation";

Third from the left is Chang Shik Yang, the Continental Director of the Unification Church now called the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU). Yang "played a lead role in the development of Moon's black minister snagging unit, the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC), and also is Moon's top man in the Middle East."

Fourth is Neil Bush;

On the far right is Larry Moffitt who is the Vice President of editorial operations for United Press International (UPI), a news service owned and operated by Rev. Moon.
The 'greatest weirdest Bush Conspiracy'

Neil Bush's trip to Paraguay is all the more interesting when considered against the backdrop of what columnist Ken Layne called the "greatest weirdest Bush Conspiracy." In a recent piece headlined "The Bushes and the Moons," Layne wrote:
The story goes like this: George W. Bush and/or George H.W. Bush bought hundreds of thousands of acres in Paraguay, adjoining a similar spread owned by the Unification Church's Rev. Sun Myung Moon. Both massive parcels are hidden within a remote South American wilderness atop the world's biggest freshwater aquifer adjoining a secret U.S. military airbase. Oh, and there's a special non-extradition law to protect the Bush/Moon families as they enjoy their old age and run drug/weapons smuggling rings, safe from American justice. And they'll own all the drinking water in the world, or something.
Travels with Moon

Two years ago, Neil Bush, along with Rev. Moon, visited the Philippines and Taiwan. While in the Manilla, Bush was present for the inaugural convocation of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), and he joined Moon in meeting with Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. The Manila Bulletin reported: "Together with peace leaders that included Neil Bush ... Moon arrived yesterday as part of a 100-day tour that is taking him to 100 cities and 67 nations and covering a journey of almost 100,000 miles."
