For Jeb Bush's railroad buddies, no less...
Broward-bred GOP hotshot keeps D.C. jobBy LARRY LEBOWITZ
June 02, 2008
Mr. Cumber stays in Washington.
Husein Cumber, the Broward-bred young Republican fundraising whiz currently serving as deputy chief of staff to U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary Peters, will not be leaving the nation's capital when the Bush-Cheney crew decamps in January.
President Bush nominated Cumber last month to a five-year term, starting in 2009, on the Surface Transportation Board, a regulatory agency that resolves railroad rate and service disputes and reviews proposed railroad mergers. Senate confirmation is pending.
Cumber, vice president at Florida East Coast Industries from 2001 to 2005, became an assistant to the secretary for policy at the Department of Transportation in September 2005.
At 29, the lifelong Floridian born to Pakistani immigrants was the youngest of the 200 Bush-Cheney ''Rangers'' nationwide who raised at least $200,000 for the 2004 reelection campaign.
Cumber, about to turn 33, cut his political teeth working on Jeb Bush's 1998 campaign for governor. He backed Rudy Giuliani's failed bid for the GOP nomination.
Let's see.... Jeb Bush, FEC, CSX, secret railroad deals in Florida using state money.... and now, Jeb Bush's former loyalist, now 32 years old, has just now been nominated by George W. Bush for a 5-year term beginning in 2009 to the 'regulatory agency that resolves railroad rate and service disputes and reviews proposed railroad mergers'??
Hello, Senate??
This looks like a nomination to deny or outright ignore until Bush is mercifully gone from our White House.
We don't need a Bush loyalist greasing the skids for Jeb Bush and his railroad buddies long after George W. Bush is gone.Jeb Bush's former business partner Armando Codina takes $255 Million from FEC stock sale in buyout., September 11, 2007
