Lieberman Gets Post In McCain Campaign
Lieberman Gets Post In McCain Campaign
By MARK PAZNIOKAS | Courant Staff Writer
January 23, 2008

After campaigning in other states for Republican John McCain, Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman now holds a formal post with the presidential candidate's campaign in Connecticut.

Lieberman, a member of the Senate Democratic caucus, was named Tuesday a chairman of McCain's state leadership team, with U.S. Rep. Christopher Shays, R-4th District.

Democrats immediately wondered if Lieberman, who declared himself an "independent Democrat" after his re-election in 2006, would campaign here for McCain.

"Very often those titles are ceremonial. I can't imagine the senator would be campaigning in the state for McCain," said Nancy DiNardo, the Democratic state chairman. "But I've been surprised before."

3. So haven't we reported and discussed the Clinton, Obama support for
Leiberman when he ran against Lamont? (Boxer also, to be fair, among others.)

So Leiberman got support from two of our candidates, but appears to be all for McCain?

Wha da yeh know?

5. He better not come to the diner here in Westville where he used to campaign!
I go there often now and they still have his damn photo on the wall by the cash register. I like to feel that we are rid of this guy. God, if he shows up there's no telling what I'll say to him...

7. Does not surprise.
Joe knows his political career is over after the next election. With more Dems in the Senate he will lose his chairmanship and his vote will become much less relevant. He will never get reelected so he has to scramble to find something for his ego. Just saying.

8. This is a curious move by McCain
I imagine this is an overt attempt to win over Independents (and, perhaps, Democrats) to the "Straight Talk Express"

However, wouldn't the very Independents and Democrats who voted for Lieberman in 2006 be disgusted by his behavior since then? Who the hell is Lieberman going to appeal to except chickenhawk Republicans, whom McCain is already pandering to?

And that fucking traitor Holy Joe needs to be drummed out of the caucus yesterday.
