It doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things, but I've noticed that DU'ers love a candidate who's down but not out.
Remember a few months ago? Kucinich was ALL over the GREATEST page--now I don't see a single post there in his favor, and he's still in the race! (Nonetheless, plenty of his supporters have abandoned him for greener pastures.)
Then it was Edwards turn--after Iowa, he took Kucinich's place as the Candidate Who Needs Our Help. Nonetheless, I'm already noticing Hillary taking his place--after the media shellacking she received in the last week, plus arguments from the current non-Hillary people who are crying foul over NH, her stock is already going up among sympathetic and supportive DU'ers. A HUGE change from the Kucinich era, when Hillary only made it to the Greatest Page if she was being criticized...
So what happens next? Well, I'm betting that in a few weeks and perhaps another big primary win, Hillary will start looking more like a winner to everyone, including the media at large. And the DAY that Obama starts floundering a bit, and rumors start flying that he may quit the race if he doesn't win another primary--that's when DU's Greatest Page will fill with dozens of posts saying "We love you, Barack! Don't quit! DU NEEDS you!" Unless HE wins more primaries, in which case he'll remain DU's Public Enemy #1...
They don't call us bleeding-hearts for nothin'--we're always willing to rush to the defense of the person being attacked, until their people become the attackers, in which case we run in the opposite direction. You could set your watch to it.
