Not one damn dime to the Republicans who run the Brady Campaign
That's right - I said Republicans. If you don't believe me, just research the backgrounds of Paul Helmke and Sarah Brady.

You want to work towards eroding our Second Amendment rights? You have the First Amendment right to do so. I'll complain, and loudly at that, but you still have that right.

Just think a little bit before you donate your children's Christmas/Hanukkah gift funds to a Republican-led organization that may not have your best interests at heart.

1. Getting Guns Off The Street Is A Good Thing
With all the murders going on, I think getting guns off the street is a good thing.

5. Someone Violating Gun Laws Is Not
Ummm......

Someone violating gun laws is most certainly not a "law-abiding citizen".

6. So where does that leave you and I?
Should our rights as Americans be restricted simply for doing the right thing, obeying the laws, and trying to be good citizens?

If you want to buy an AK, I'll support your decision. If you never want to even lay hands on one, I'll support that, too. Just make sure you know what you're getting into no matter what the circumstances.

3. And a law banning them will do that? Will that work as well as the laws banning cocaine?

4. Did you mean getting guns out of the hands of criminals perhaps?
I have never seen a "gun on the street" do anything. I have noticed that when gang members are in possession of guns that people tend to get killed.

7. Getting violent criminals off the street is a better thing
If there were fewer murderers running around loose, there would be fewer murders.

8. Hmmm...
Well... wasn't Brady a Republican who worked for Reagan? Wouldn't be a fair assumption that his friends and business partners may also be Republicans? Are they using the donations for some nefarious plan to keep Bush in the White House come 2008? or are they using the donations for their stated goals-- that of more responsible fire arm regulation.

Aren't all of our rights regulated in one sense of another? One could easily infer from your posts that denying a person to yell "fire" in a crowded theater is an attempt to erode our first amendment rights.

9. Sarah Brady's husband took a bullet in the head due to a mentally unstable man
He was the White House press secretary when Reagan was shot by John Hinkley Jr.

I won't begrudge her anything she has to say about criminals getting hold of guns.

However, I do believe that she and the rest of the Brady Campaign are a little overboard in the desire to remove firearms from the public place.

10. Duly noted
I understand that she has a huge personal stake in this regard. If Sarah Brady would simply focus on keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill, though, she and I might have something to talk about.

11. I would support them if they did that myself.
They assume that ANYONE owning a gun is bad. I am "anyone" so I feel compelled to fight them.
