I'm shocked Americans let that much money and time go to Louisiana.

Blanco Gets Good Vibes, No Commitment In DC
WASHINGTON -- Gov. Kathleen Blanco said she felt positive vibes in a meeting with Gulf Coast recovery czar Donald Powell and other White House officials -- but she admitted that she didn't get a firm commitment from them on funding for the Road Home rebuilding program.
In fact, Blanco said a timeline wasn't pushed to fill the shortfall, which is projected to be in the billions of dollars. Instead, the state will continue to work with Congress, she said.
But time is becoming critical. Congress is only in session for another two months, and Blanco said all of the current funding for the Road Home program will be gone by mid-January.
"We do not want to see the program stop. We think that would be a morale killer. It would be demoralizing to those people who've been so patient and who have been waiting," she said.
If there's a gap, Blanco said, 30,000 to 40,000 people will have to wait longer to get their Road Home money.
