Rev. Yearwood not only deserves a sincere apology for how he was treated, but monetary compensation as well.
This is in reference to
this VIDEO of the incident.
A few points:
1) Rev. Yearwood did not break any law. He should
never have been put under arrest, or ordered to leave, or touched, or tackled to the floor, or any other such thing by any kind of law enforcement officer.
2) If his leg broke, if his ankle broke, if his ankle sprained, or any other injuries or lack thereof he may of may not have suffered, or whether or not he may or may not have lied afterwards about it is
utterly irrelevant point number 1.
3) Whether or not he "lunged" away from an officer is
not relevant. The officer had no right to touch him at all in the first place! See point #1. If you want to argue that he "resisted arrest", maybe you ought to be questioning why he was ever under arrest in the first place.
Finally, for those so biased that they can't even believe their own eyes in the face of
video evidence:
I don't know how anyone can take the officers' side on this. Unless you want to live in an America where law enforcement is able to grab you from behind while you calmly
walk away after having committed no crime at all....
