Citizens march in Kennebunkport, ME -July 1st - to impeach Bush and Cheney,
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THIS RALLY IN KENNEBUNKPORT, MAINE ON JULY 1ST

Citizens march in Kennebunkport July 1st to impeach Bush and Cheney,
end the war in Iraq, and bring the troops home

A protest march and citizens' summit will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday,
July 1st, in Kennebunkport, Maine, to coincide with President George
W. Bush's meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Rally participants will call for the impeachment of President George Bush

and VP Dick Cheney and for the immediate withdrawal of American troops from Iraq.

The rally and march will be held rain or shine, at the Village Green
on Ocean Avenue in Kennebunkport and is being organized by The
Kennebunks' Peace Department and the Maine Campaign to Impeach. Event
coordinators are Jamilla El-Shafei of the Peace Department and
Deborah Gordon of the Maine Campaign to Impeach.

Immediately before the march begins, David Swanson, co-founder of www.AfterDowningStreet.org
and John Kaminski, chair of Maine Lawyers for Democracy (MLD), will address the gathering.

AfterDowningStreet.org is a nonpartisan coalition of more than 200
veterans' groups, peace groups, and political activist groups that
has worked since May 2005 to pressure both Congress and the media to
investigate whether President Bush has committed impeachable offenses
in connection with the Iraq war. Swanson, a journalist and activist,
served as communications coordinator for ACORN, the Association of
Community Organizations Now and was press secretary for the 2004
Dennis Kucinich presidential campaign.

Kaminski's organization of more than 80 lawyers has brought to the
Maine legislature a detailed position paper calling for the
impeachment of President Bush and Vice-President Cheney. In this
paper the MLD cites the deceptions used to justify starting the Iraq
War, the illegality of the War under the terms of international
treaties to which the US is a signatory, and the illegal wiretapping
of US citizens. Further grounds for impeachment, according to the
MLD, include this Administration¹s use of torture, detention without
trials, and the suspension of habeas corpus.

"Unless this Administration is held accountable through impeachment,"
Kaminski notes, "their unchecked abuses of power will set precedent
for future US Presidents. The eyes of the world are focused on Maine
this weekend, and the world needs to see that American democracy
works to hold accountable those who abuse our constitutional system."

El-Shafei says, "We are gathering in Kennebunkport in an act of
dissent, a time-honored tradition and the hallmark of all true
democracies. We are calling for the impeachment of President Bush and
Vice-President Cheney and an end to the war in Iraq. We cannot sit
idly by while more and more of our soldiers are maimed or killed,
while innocent Iraqi civilians suffer the brutalities of war and are
denied access to the most basic human necessities. We find the
invasion of Chechnya and the invasion of Iraq to be equally
detestable. Both wars are breeding terrorism in an outraged Muslim
world."

Music will start at 11 and include Pat Scanlon and Band of Andover,
Mass., Matt Loosigian, a folksinger from Brunswick, Maine, and the
Raging Grannies of Maine and Massachusetts.

Due to the large crowd of protesters expected, the organizers are
asking that people park at Kennebunk High School on Fletcher Street
(Route 35). People traveling on I-95 should take Exit 25, the
Kennebunk-Kennebunkport exit, and immediately get on Route 35 South.
Kennebunk High is roughly one mile from I-95. Beginning at 9 a.m.,
shuttle buses will transport people to the march in Kennebunkport.

3. Not sure how far from Boston, but I think it is about 1 1/2 to 2 hours trip by car.
When we drive to Boston from Central Maine (about 1 1/2 hour north of Kennebunk) it takes us three hours. Kennebunk is that much closer to Boston. Looks like we will have about the same distance to travel to get there. There should be a lot of press coverage about this with the "two world leaders" there.

within an hour's drive of Kennebunkport. They've been taken over by the foreign press folks.

It should be a pretty interesting day. I'll be hanging around the stage area; stop up & say hi.

12. Will do!! What about a camping spot?

Maybe a motel room in NH? Naw, probably full too, with beach goers.

I don't need a motel room. I'm not that far, driving wise and if

I get that tired, my car seats go all the way back! ;)

4. Add your name to our Pink Slip Cheney petition!

IMPEACH VICE PRESIDENT, DICK CHENEY

Call (202 456 1111) or FAX Cheney's office (202 456 2461) to say:

"SHAME ON YOU"

Add your name to our Pink Slip Cheney petition!

Call your Congressperson to co-sponsor Cheney's impeachment articles

202 224 3121

Dick Cheney has always given us the creeps. Now, as more information comes out about
his devious actions to undermine the Constitution, our goosebumps have morphed into sheer outrage.

As Maureen Dowd writes, "It's hard to imagine how Dick Cheney could get more dastardly,
unless J. K. Rowling has him knock off Harry Potter next month."

If you haven't read this week's Washington Post series-- Angler: The Cheney Vice Presidency,
you must immediately. It is the strongest indictment against Cheney that we've seen--the series
looks deeply into the machinations behind his sanction of torture, his belief that he's above
the law. When asked about Cheney's claim of unique status and powers, Richard Wolfe of NEWSWEEK
said, "This is a very rocky path, and if it's Constitutional, then I'm a banana."

Cheney sees himself as top banana, and we need to tell him it's time to split.

Just this week, we marched in DC to urge Congress to restore law and justice by restoring
the writ of habeas corpus and bringing an immediate halt to indefinite detention.

We need to continue to protest against these criminals and their destruction of our Constitution.

Here are some ways you can take action today:

Call (202 456 1111) and say "SHAME ON YOU" or

FAX our Pink Slip to Cheney's office (202 456 2461).

Tell Cheney he's brought shame to the office and shame to our nation.

Sign our Pink Slip, calling for Cheney's impeachment

http://www.democracyinaction.org/dia/organizationsORG/codepink/petition.jsp?petition_KEY=651

Call your Rep today (202 224 3121), and urge them to co-sponsor
Rep. Dennis Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment, H.Res. 333. (see below)

Together, we can rout this dastardly criminal banana creep out of office!

With peace and determination,

Dana, Desiree, Ena, Farida, Gael, Gayle, Jodie, Karin, Leslie,
Medea, Nancy, Patricia, Rae, Rocio, Samantha, and Vanessa

Articles of Impeachment

"In his conduct while Vice President of the United States, Richard B. Cheney, in violation of his
constitutional oath to faithfully execute the office of Vice President of the United States and,
to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States,
and in violation of his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, has

1. purposely manipulated the intelligence process to deceive the citizens and Congress of the United
States by fabricating a threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction to justify the use of the United
States Armed Forces against the nation of Iraq in a manner damaging to our national security interests

2. purposely manipulated the intelligence process to deceive the citizens and Congress of the United
States about an alleged relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda in order to justify the use of the
United States Armed Forces against the nation of Iraq in a manner damaging to our national security interests

3. openly threatened aggression against the Republic of Iran absent any real threat to the United
States, and done so with the United States proven capability to carry out such threats, thus
undermining the national security of the United States

Wherefore Richard B. Cheney, by such conduct, warrants impeachment and trial, and removal from office."

Current co-sponsors of the Resolution include:

Rep Clarke, Yvette D. - 6/6/2007
Rep Clay, Wm. Lacy - 5/1/2007
Rep Lee, Barbara - 6/7/2007
Rep Schakowsky, Janice D. - 5/1/2007
Rep Waters, Maxine - 6/12/2007
Rep Woolsey, Lynn C. - 6/7/2007
Rep Wynn, Albert Russell - 5/10/2007

With your help, we can make this list longer.

Honk To Impeach!
Submitted by Bob Fertik on June 10, 2007 - 2:51pm.
HonkToImpeach
According to the polls, a majority of Americans support the impeachment of George Bush.

But few Americans know there is a nationwide grassroots movement to impeach George Bush - because the Corporate Media refuses to report on our efforts on orders from Karl Rove.

So what can we do about it? How about making some old-fashioned noise - and breaking new ground in high-tech grassroots organizing!

HonkToImpeach is simple:

We'll organize ourselves locally to hit busy intersections with signs asking cars to Honk To Impeach Bush - that's the old-fashioned noise-making part
We'll also hold signs saying PASSENGERS: TEXT "IMPEACH" to 30644 - that's the new high-tech grassroots organizing, which will allow us to "sign up" all the honkers via text messaging for future organizing
We'll post photos and videos of our actions to build relationships and inspire more activism
What does this look like? Visit Honk4Peace.org and watch the photo slideshow. We'll post HonkToImpeach photos and videos as soon as you send them.

Here are the nuts and bolts for organizers:

Pick a strategic location that gets a lot of cars and has a stop light - if possible, right in front of your Representative's District Office or a local TV station or newspaper
Pick a time that works for you and a friend or two
Post the time/place on our events calendar coded "Honk To Impeach"
Send the link to your local friends and ask them post a comment if they can join you. Also ask them to send it to their local friends.
Bring our two handwritten signs (or posterboard and markers to make signs)
Honk to Impeach Bush!
TEXT "IMPEACH" to 30644
Bring a camera (or video camera) to record your activities
You need two signs at each corner - if you have extra people and signs you can cover more than one corner
Have fun!!
If you're not an organizer but want to participate, visit our events page and type in your zip code to find a HonkToImpeach event near you. Then post a comment telling the organizer you'll be there.

Safety is crucial and we must not cause any accidents involving cars or pedestrians.

Don't bring children or pets - they are too precious, as well as unpredictable and distracting
Only wave your signs at cars that are stopped at a red light - don't distract drivers who are moving - turn your signs away from moving cars - turn your signs away when the red light turns green
If a pro-Bush driver curses at you, don't get angry - just smile and wave or move away
If the police question you, tell them you're exercising your First Amendment right of free expression. If they tell you you're creating a disturbance in that location, ask them where you can stand that will not create a disturbance. You have a right to hold signs in public places so find a local lawyer who is familiar with local ordinances and ask if they will advise you for free (pro bono) if you get hassled by local police
After you're done:

Thank everyone who came and ask them if they would do it again, what date/time works best, and what changes to make
Collect everyone's email address for future events
Upload your photos to your favorite photo site like Flickr.com and upload your videos to Youtube.com

No!! LOL! My brother is a pilot though! But I don't think he's licensed for a 'copter.
That's a great idea, though! Maybe the local news station will take a pic?
But then again, with all those dignitaries there, air space will probably be closed.
