To be a conservative
Another addition to the list...

To be a conservative, you have to refuse to accept any reports from sources such as The New York Times and The Washington Post, even if they are fully referenced, but accept without question undocumented and uncited email forwards of unknown origin sent by your aunt Marge.

1. I always chuckle when limbaugh or hannity cite a heritage foundation study
or last weekend when hannity referred to ann coulter as if she were the encylopedia. To be a conservative is to be an ignorant sack of shit and proud of it. Oh, and a fucking coward to boot.

4. Just got another e-mail forward claiming Carlin as author
'How to save gas' or similar. Collect all 12 million illegal aliens, it went on, give them a rifle and send them to Iraq, tax them, bring our troops home to guard our borders, blah, blah, blah...Why do right-wing types put out fake letters claiming to be authored by Robin Williams, Carlin, or Andy Rooney?

5. To be a conservative, you have to believe that protecting the unborn is a moral imperative, but
Edited on Wed Jun-13-07 04:07 PM by fishwax
protecting the already-born through welfare, medicaid, etc., is Marxism run amok.

7. you have to believe that a mother of 4 getting a few hundred bucks in food stamps is abusing the
system, but a multinational corporation with millions in government grants or a rich businessman with off-shore tax shelters is simply working the free market.

8. You must believe that a blowjob is a serious crime & an impeachable offense
But lying to murder a million people isn't worth being concerned about.

10. I can't say it any better than this
“The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy;

that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.”

-John Kenneth Galbraith

12. add definition for "compassionate conservative"
the "compassionate conservative" fits the John Kenneth Galbraith definition, but you are laible to hear one of them say "oh, those poor people, that's so tragic, but, what are you going to do?"

11. I must be a conservative then
because I accept NOTHING at all from the Post and read the NY Times with a very jaundiced eye.

13. But do you blindly accept every email that crosses your inbox?
I doubt that you do :)

And IMO that is the real crux of the biscuit. Why do so many freepers believe every email that says that Clinton is a Russian spy and Jane Fonda did it with Ho Chi Min, yet will call every professional media outlet in the world a member of a liberal conspiracy?
