War protester Adam Kokesh could face a general discharge from the Marines. A Marine commander says embattled reservist Adam Kokesh won’t get a new hearing.
Brig. Gen. Darrell Moore, commander of the Marine Mobilization Command in Kansas City, denied Kokesh’s request for a second hearing Wednesday.
A three-member review board recommended Monday that Kokesh, a corporal in the Marine Individual Ready Reserve, immediately receive a general discharge for wearing a stripped-down uniform to a war protest and using an obscenity in an e-mail to a Marine officer.
Kokesh’s attorney, Michael Lebowitz, asked for a new hearing Tuesday. He said the board was “improperly convened” because one of its members wasn’t a commissioned officer, which he said Marine regulations require.
