Bio fuel is a good idea, as it is renewable, and does less to upset the carbon balance,. as the plants grow they absorb carbon that is produced when they are burned,. much more BALANCED than burning fossil fuels where the offset of carbon happened a million years ago.
However Bio fuels are not a solution to the problems we have today,. our problems come from an economic system that does not face reality. Capitalism is based on the assumption of endless growth,. yet endless growth is not possible on a finite planet. Until this societal retardation is addressed little progress is possible. As 'industry' began to get kick-backs from the gov. for producing and selling bio fuels the price of corn and other foods rises. Mexican people, many with tinny incomes, suffered a steep rise in corn prices last year and this is attributed to america buying corn for ethanol. ( whats next the wor for the corn fields! )
I would rather hear talk about curbing americas radical over-consumption! It is not so much that we will end up loosing stuff we think we need,. we simply need to change a lot of what and how we do things,. Permaculture is the path forward for human survival. produce stuff locally, organically, and from local people,. this build community as well as saving on the ludicrous amounts of shipping that goes on today,. we need to be using the last of the oil to build systems that can be sustained with out the oil.., is that not just logic?
How did we ever let crazy people who can not even acknowledge that a finite resource will one day run out run the show???
