I remember my parents and grandparents speaking of the terrible depression of that era. Here FDR speaks of making life easier for workers who were in such trouble.
From the site:
""Washington, DC: In a dramatic newsreel interview at the White House, the Chief Executive reviews the accomplishments of his two-months-old administration, promising further leislation designed to better economic conditions throughout the United States and to improve the financial standing of the industrial worker, the farmer and others." President Promises Better Wages For Industry Workers - scenes include FDR speaking Fireside Chat #2 - poor visual image of FDR's face. (partial newsreel) ... "
I could not help but think of this administration's lack of concern for the people of this country. Bush pales in comparison. FDR was not perfect but he helped people have a future during this country's dark days. As I watched a recent event came to pass...the passing of the bankruptcy bill. It does not speak well for many disabled and elderly, and those who lose employment because of the outsourcing. What a different mindset.
