FLINT -- New contract deals for three city unions were fast-tracked by Flint City Council on Monday, despite their $3 million price tag and what one council member called "suspect" timing.

About the contracts AFSCME Local 1600 and 1799 • Includes 592 employees • Lasts until June 30, 2010 • $1,200 for each employee as a one-time only payment to offset health care costs • Additional 4 percent raise, retroactive until July 1, 2007 • 2 percent raises in both 2008 and 2009 • Total cost: $2.9 million
