Here is the letter promoting bigotry, from elected BIGOT Virgil Goode (R-VA)!
Here is a copy of the actual text of the letter Rep. Virgil Goode sent out to supporters earlier this month regarding the reaction of a handful of wingnuts flipping out over Muslim representative-elect Keith Ellison's (D-MN) decision to be sworn in on the Koran. The letter's ignorance, hypocrisy, and bigotry speaks for itself. :puke:

I think Virgil Goode should wear a white hood over his face on Swearing In Day; then at least this bigot would represent himself accurately. I'm sure his Virginia bud George Allen would be in the audience beaming his approval. Bastards both!

So much for the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution... hey Mr. Goode!

Text of Virgil Goode's letter from December 7, 2006 is as follows:

Thank you for your recent communication. When I raise my hand to take the oath on Swearing In Day, I will have the Bible in my other hand. I do not subscribe to using the Koran in any way. The Muslim Representative from Minnesota was elected by the voters of that district and if American citizens don’t wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Koran. We need to stop illegal immigration totally and reduce legal immigration and end the diversity visas policy pushed hard by President Clinton and allowing many persons from the Middle East to come to this country. I fear that in the next century we will have many more Muslims in the United States if we do not adopt the strict immigration policies that I believe are necessary to preserve the values and beliefs traditional to the United States of America and to prevent our resources from being swamped.

The Ten Commandments and “In God We Trust” are on the wall in my office. A Muslim student came by the office and asked why I did not have anything on my wall about the Koran. My response was clear, “As long as I have the honor of representing the citizens of the 5th District of Virginia in the United States House of Representatives, The Koran is not going to be on the wall of my office.” Thank you again for your email and thoughts.

1. I wonder how many of those Commandments
this Congresscritter has broken. I'd be more impressed by a Congressman who had a copy of the Constitution on his wall.

5. As I pointed out in a later post

My Quran has the Ten Commandments in it.

So, I either have the ecumenical Qaran, or it's a lie by the congressman.

2. What's his policy for preventing people from converting to Islam
like Mr. Ellison did? Should we ban that too? :sarcasm:

4. I still think his "Muslim student" story is a lot of crap
I find it impossible that a "Muslim student" happen to some by his office and ask why there wasn't anything from the Qaran on his wall.

In addition, in the Qaran I own, the Ten Commandments are in it, so I'm not sure why any Muslim would ask that question anyway.

6. Goode must also object if Jews don't use the Protestant King James version and Catholics
certainly would be on Goode's list if they use their version and other religious groups also offend Goode.

Any way you look at Goode, he meets the definition of a bigot.

7. Isn't Goode from Macacaville?
I live in his district, but he ain't my Congressman!

Obviously, Goode fears freedom of religion. Golly gee whiz, freedom of religion might mean...GASP!....that American citizens can worship as they please. Even allah! And even...GASP!...read the Koran!

And wouldn't we rather a politician take an oath of office with left hand on a revered book rather than a book he/she doesn't revere?

Goode's district includes Jerry Fallwell's Liberty University. I say, if Fallwell can worship a god that promotes hatred, then Muslims have a right to run for office and worship as they please too. What part of that is difficult for Goode to comprehend?

8. Ellison is originally from Detroit!
"The Muslim Representative from Minnesota was elected by the voters of that district and if American citizens don’t wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Koran. We need to stop illegal immigration totally...."

Congressman Goode obviously hasn't done his homework. Congressman-elect Ellison from Minnesota was born in Detroit. Unless Goode thinks Detroit is in a foreign country, what on earth does Ellison's election have to do with immigration?
