Congress reaction to Microwave weapon use on American civilians
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 12:30 PM by Jeanette in FL
I just got off the phone with both Senator's office and Congresswoman Corrine Brown's office. None of them had heard of this and I was the first phone call into their offices with the article and complaint.

I requested that I wanted their response in writing as to what they were going to do about this program and that it would be on the record.

I told them where they could find the article. Mel Martinez' office asked me if it was an op/ed of someones opinion on what the Air Force might be doing. I had to tell them "No, the Air Force secretary, Michael Wynne is quoted" and proceeded to read the article to them.

All offices seemed to be quite surprised about this and agreed that they will look into this further.

It is so important that everyone posting about this get on the phone now and make your voice heard. Demand a written response from them.

Please post your congress persons reaction to the information.

12. They need to be reminded that they work for us
And not the other way around. I am sick of calling their offices and they not having any idea of what I am talking about.

That is why I requested a written response from them on the record.

Ok, the government wants to test microwave crowd control on F**** AMERICANS! This is the first time in a long time I have been truly frightened.

It's a downward spiral with these f*** morons in D.C.
................

POSTED: 7:56 p.m. EDT, September 12, 2006

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Nonlethal weapons such as high-power microwave devices should be used on American citizens in crowd-control situations before being used on the battlefield, the Air Force secretary said Tuesday.

The object is basically public relations. Domestic use would make it easier to avoid questions from others about possible safety considerations, said Secretary Michael Wynne.

"If we're not willing to use it here against our fellow citizens, then we should not be willing to use it in a wartime situation," said Wynne. "(Because) if I hit somebody with a nonlethal weapon and they claim that it injured them in a way that was not intended, I think that I would be vilified in the world press."

The Air Force has paid for research into nonlethal weapons, but he said the service is unlikely to spend more money on development until injury problems are reviewed by medical experts and resolved.

Nonlethal weapons generally can weaken people if they are hit with the beam. Some of the weapons can emit short, intense energy pulses that also can be effective in disabling some electronic devices.

15. I decided to email so I could attach the article...
That article is so damning that I wanted Harkin's office to see it. I was concerned that they may take that CNN article down before the staff got to my email, so I captured it, uploaded it to Photobucket, and linked to that. Thanks to the OP for the heads-up on this.

18. Bet both TN senators will figuratively lynch Wynne in calling for his
immediate resignation, or am I just some mushy-headed bleeding heart who doesn't understand the tough-on-freedom and liberty hardball Repugs play?

19. Here's my email to my rep
Dear Representative Dicks:

CNN reported the following yesterday;

"(Because) if I hit somebody with a nonlethal weapon and they claim that it injured them in a way that was not intended, I think that I would be vilified in the world press."

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/09/12/usaf.weapons.ap/index.html

I am concerned that the Secretary of the Air Force fears the reactions of the world press more than the domestic press, me or even you.

Can you please reply to me on this important issue? Many of my friends are very concerned about the status of their freedom and would like to know what your response will be.

I'm also concerned for your constituents at McChord AFB who may be wondering if they will be required by the administration to turn microwave cannons on their friends and neighbors.

Thank you for your kind attention.

22. They should test it on themselves!
Maybe Michael Wynne should test it out on his own family and friends.

Are they trying to promote a Civil War in the USA????
