Germany, February 28, 1933: a comparison of our current situation
An excerpt from the Reichstag Fire Decree:

"It is therefore permissible to restrict the rights of personal freedom, freedom of opinion, including the freedom of the press, the freedom to organize and assemble, the privacy of postal, telegraphic and telephonic communications, and warrants for house searches, orders for confiscations as well as restrictions on property, are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed."

1. Right to habeus corpus: gone if declared an "enemy combatant"

2. Freedom of Press: the Bush administration is currently investigating leaks related to their illegal activities, in addition to pursuing the "Barry Bonds Grand Jury Leak" which is completely unrelated to national security.

3. Freedom to organize and assemble: free-speech zones prevent protesters from being heard, makes protesting pointless

4. Privacy of postal communications: All communications may be opened and inspected in the aftermath of the "anthrax letters"

5. Telephone communications: Most Americans telephone calling records have been amassed into an NSA database, only one major phone company Qwest, refused to turn over records citing lack of legal authority to collect them without a warrant. In addition phone calls overseas may be recorded if one is suspected of al-Qaeda activities, or activities with associated organizations.

6. E-mail the modern day equivalent of a telegram/letter: WorldNet traffic is being monitored by secret facilities at several AT&T facilities. In addition, nodes connecting to other networks are also being monitored, this allows most internet traffic in the USA to be monitored, without a warrant.

1. Interesting, as it is everytime its posted. . .
but how -- in your opinion -- does our present situation differ from that of Hitlerian Germany, and how might that be used to our advantage?

3. The parallels to events as they unraveled in Nazi Germany
and in our present Reich are scary. We haven't gotten to the end yet. I hope we never do.

5. You should see the horrible things I have to endure...
on this mixed dem/puke website I visit. The literally are advocating locking us away just for being Democrats. No joke. Here is the post:

"Title: Why aren't ALL Liberals in Jail?

Body: The US sedition act of 1918-

The Espionage Act of 1917 was amended by Congress the following year to not only target those who interfered with the draft, but also those individuals who publicly criticized the government — including negative comments about the flag, military or Constitution.
The revised law provided in part:

SECTION 3. Whoever, when the United States is at war, shall willfully make or convey false reports or false statements with intent to interfere with the operation or success of the military or naval forces of the United States, or to promote the success of its enemies, or shall willfully make or convey false reports, or false statements, ...or incite insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny, or refusal of duty, in the military or naval forces of the United States, or shall willfully obstruct ...the recruiting or enlistment service of the United States, or ...shall willfully utter, print, write, or publish any disloyal, profane, scurrilous, or abusive language about the form of government of the United States, or the Constitution of the United States, or the military or naval forces of the United States ...or shall willfully display the flag of any foreign enemy, or shall willfully ...urge, incite, or advocate any curtailment of production ...or advocate, teach, defend, or suggest the doing of any of the acts or things in this section enumerated and whoever shall by word or act support or favor the cause of any country with which the United States is at war or by word or act oppose the cause of the United States therein, shall be punished by a fine of not more than $10,000 or imprisonment for not more than 20 years, or both....

United States, Statutes at Large, Washington, D.C., 1918, Vol. XL, p. 553 and following.

All liberals in the media and in government should be in jail and out $145,000 (after adjusting for inflation). Why hasn't this law been enforced? Newsweek and the "Koran Flushing" incident. Chicago suns times running pics of "innocent civilians massacred by US marines in Haditha", when in fact those were pictures of civilians slaughtered by terrorists outside of Falluja in 2004. CBS and "memogate". Dick "Turban" Durban comparing our troops to Nazis, Soviet Gulag guards, and the terrorists themselves when describing treatment of TERRORISTS at G'tmo. Libs leaking terrorist wiretapping program. Liberals in government defaming our troops, declaring that our president lied and is responsible for the deaths of said troops and Iraqi civilians. I could go on for days, but my fingers would bleed all into the keys of my laptop, preventing me from dishing out ownage for a while. This act is cut and dry. No ifs, ands, or buts. Americas jails should be overflowing with treacherous, mutinous liberals."

These people are Nazi in disguise. Ann is the writer of the new "Mein Kampf."

6. Huh, I'm thinking the same thing, that all Republicans should
be tried for treason. They aren't honoring the Constitution that they swore to uphold. But then I don't want to be like them either.

7. The thing is...
that they are actively breaking the law to gain control of this country. Bush is the modern President Hindenburg, Cheney is Hitler, and Rove is Goebbels.

10. Was there any pretense of elections once Hitler assumed power? Or
was this simply suspended?

Or were there legit elections where the Nazis were elected because they DID enjoy the support of the majority of Germans?
