Bush apologizes to vision-impaired reporter
Bush apologizes to vision-impaired reporter

Thursday, June 15, 2006; Posted: 5:38 a.m. EDT (09:38 GMT)

President Bush mistakenly poked fun at a vision-impaired reporter's sunglasses Wednesday.

Wallsten said Bush called his cell phone later in the day to apologize and tell him that he didn't know he had the disease.

.....................

Wallsten said the president said he would not treat him differently, so Wallsten encouraged him to "needle away."

"He said, 'I will. Next time I'll just use a different needle,' " Wallsten said.

Wallsten said he thought that was a pretty good line. And his only complaint is that the president didn't answer his question at the news conference.

4. Sanctimonious prick....
maybe he should just stop publically abusing people? Can you imagine the shit he must say to Laura? I wouldn't be surprised if her fist was the cause of some of his facial abrasions.

5. And that was Bushler's MO from the beginning: obfuscate and distract
King George didn't want to answer questions anyway.

it would have occured to most people that the lone person in a crowd wearing shades on a cloudy might be vision-impaired.

Not the Silver-Spoon Schmuck.

Insults are high comedy to them.

I'm impressed he called to apologize.

The man's definitely taking a different tack these past few weeks, and I for one am glad for it, whatever the impetus (midterms).

Sure it is a big nothing in the big picture. He's certainly done MUCH worse than this.

However, it is one more in a long line of examples of how fucking self absorbed the guy is like the no cell phones aroung Dubya rule. It is just him being a pompous arrogant fuck that thinks the entire world revolves around him, his power and his money. Everyone in his presense should bend to his will on all things even something as minor as wearing or not wearing sunglasses. Like that matters in anyway to America in the middle of a presidential press conference.

Screw him. He's a prick at the most base level and this is just one more example of that.

BTW - My wife suffers the same issue as this reporter. It is extremely stressful to be progressively loosing your vision especially at such a young age. Put yourself in that guy's shoes. So, yeah, this does piss me off. Arrogant and insensitive.
