Good for them. I went through a drive through once in Miami and ordered lunch. They gave me my total in Spanish and when I arrived at the window, appeared annoyed that they had to repeat it in English. I can't imagine what the situation is like in Florida, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California at this late date.

Pat's and South Philly trivia -
John Kerry went to Pat's on a campaign stop in 2004. You get cheese steak generally with melted Velveeta or provolone.
(true story) Kerry ordered it with Gruyere and then made a huge mess eating his steak (no porcelain china, I guess).
Just a regular guy.

I watched his be-heading and if you would like to see it I would be more than happy to send it to you. That is what was wrong with the Nick Berg story. His head was sawed off while he was screaming. Nothing more is wrong with the story and the fact that the man animal with the knife is now dead is a great thing.
Nothing wrong here. Let's just move on and kill the rest of them.

Commentary on political doings from an expert in the field;
"I'm thinking we're going to be seeing more and more "special elections" in the future."
This really does raise an interesting issue, because at some point in the future Orleans Parish is going have to purge the voter rolls to retain only those voters who truly are residents. I know many of you may say that "Nagin won't allow that" or "Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will dial up 'Rent-a-Mob' to put a stop to it," but, as an informed Louisianian, I beg to differ.
The maintenance of voter registration rolls in Louisiana is controlled by state law and there is too much sentiment outside of Orleans Parish which recognizes the "fix" that is being maintained by keeping, at a minimum, tens of thousands of voters on the rolls who already have left New Orleans never to return. So long as this affects only what transpires within New Orleans or Orleans Parish, the rest of the state will simply stand and watch. But once it begins to threaten the security of the statewide vote, things will change.
Sooner or later there will be a purge of the Orleans Parish voter rolls to narrow down the list only to genuine residents and that event will change everything in Louisiana politics statewide, as well as opening up some interesting possibilities within Jefferson's own district, which covers more area than just Orleans Parish itself. What I don't know is just what the distribution of voters across his district will be when that happens. But if the overall weight of Orleans Parish voters is reduced by a significant proportion, then Jefferson may actually have to fight for the seat. I don't want to convey the impression that it is likely that he will lose the seat, just that, if the demographics change enough, it could put the seat up for grabs.
But please do not interpret my comments as suggesting the Democrats could lose this seat. No matter what else happens, they will retain it. But the type of Democrat who holds it could change significantly.
With that in mind, the question becomes "when will the voter rolls be purged"? And after that, "when will the special election to replace Jefferson be held"?
