About 50 people filled a small Doylestown restaurant yesterday to hear Wilson speak at a private fund-raiser for Democratic congressional candidate Patrick Murphy. Guests paid $250 for a half-hour reception at which Wilson signed copies of his book, The Politics of Truth; others spent $100 for lunch and to hear Wilson's remarks.
Afterward, in an interview at a nearby law office, Wilson said he was lending his "name recognition" to Democratic candidates because he feels democracy is threatened by the "one-party" government in Washington.
"I take my responsibility as a citizen of this country very seriously, and that includes supporting the candidate of my choice," he said. "Even if it means coming under character assassination."
