blaming Busby or democrats in general. She lost this very red district in 2004 by over 20%, this time she lost by 4%. When the Dukestir scandal first broke, most people didn't think the democrats had a chance in this district due to republicans greatly outnumbering democrats. But then things improved for Busby, just as they are improving for democrats everywhere. Are we going to win every race, hell no. But do we have a chance of taking back the house and/or senate and/or taking control of a majority of the governorships, hell yes.

Last night Iowa chose Culver (D) to run against Nussle (R) for the governorship
What does republican pollster Rasmussen predict in November?
Chet Culver (D) 46%, Jim Nussle (R) 40%
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/2006/State%20Polls/April%202006/Iowa%20Governor%20April.htm

Last night Montana chose Tester (D) to run against Burns (R) for the senate
Rasmussen poll: Jon Tester (D) 48%, Conrad Burns (R) 44%
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/2006/State%20Polls/May%202006/Montana%20Senate%20May.htm

We know that Santorum will be sent packing in PA, and the senate races in MO, RI, OH, TN, and VA are at least possibilities. Everyone should feel free to blame democrats and blame Busby and coulda, woulda, shoulda today, but they should also take the time to notice all the potential pickups we have, and get working on November.

(edited for my usual bad spelling)

6. What do you mean?
Of course a Democrat is going to win in a Democratic primary.

Are you being sarcastic or are you speaking to DINOs and DLCers?

Color me confused.

7. When the democrat is predicted to beat the republican
in the general election, that is a good sign. But don't let that stop you from pissing on the parade.

14. Nice to know I have your permission.
I tire of people even starting this type of thread. Anyone who might be depressed after working their butt off is a defeatist, my dying ass...Get a grip. You cheerleaders can let people have a day or two to chill, before you begin to pontificate from your morally superior perches.

I know it is hard to resist spreading perfection & light, but try-please.

3. LOL! I woulda guessed the opposite!
That there woulda been a lotta "it's a loss, but here's how to look at it like it's a win so we don't feel bad" posts!

I love those posts.

4. All positive signs. And, I think the party should view any criticisms
of the CAL-50 race outcome as a learning experience. We need to focus on other issues as well as corruption ones. In other words, we have a lot of hard work ahead of us.

8. What's your point?
Should we all be negative and bring the rest down with our negativity?

9. Rasmussen didn't poll that race. SurveyUSA predicted a Bilbray win.
Edited on Wed Jun-07-06 09:14 AM by skipos
And as for PRE-election polls in 2004, in general they didn't predict a Kerry win. There is a website that compiled all of the big pollster right before the election, and they averaged out a to a Bush win by a percent or two. I don't remember any pre-election poll that predicted a big Kerry win. Fox News had one of the bigger margins for a Kerry win, and that was only around 2%. If you want, I could probably dig these polls up.

10. Dems in CA-50 gained 18pts on past repub performance

A certain win a solidly red district was never assured. Imagine a swing like that in more evenly divided places.

11. You're right, I don't give rasmussen much credit though
but we can learn from this, tailor the message more to the people we need to get out.
I'm confident of a D win in Missouri this November, notalent is trying to throw redmeat to the fundie base here, but, they've been screwed over and know it. This is a state full of buyers remorse and in the mood to throw incumbnents out.

13. We have forced the republicans to spend a huge amount of
money on the primaries. That is a good thing.
