Ex-US Secretary of State Tells Bush To Reply To Iranian Presidents Letter

As the US announced today that it is ready to join Europe in direct talks with Iran on its nuclear programme if Tehran suspends disputed nuclear activities, a former US Secretary of State has called on President Bush to reply to the Iranian leader’s recent letter.

Earlier in May 2006 President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wrote an extraordinary letter to President George W. Bush criticising American foreign and domestic policy and challenging his counterpart’s attachment to Christian values – by time-and-again asking how his warlike actions squared up with the teachings of Jesus. snip

She said today that while the two presidents should not be considered as candidates to be pen pals, an exchange was necessary.

“We are not talking about a clash of civilisations, but we are facing a battle of ideas,” she declared.

2. About four years ago
France, Germany, the UK and Russia told us they would handle Iran and we should stay out of it as we would make things worse.

So how are we getting dragged into this mess?

This was supposed to be Europe's deal to make.

3. China, Russia, the IAEA, and the 114-nation Non-Aligned Movement...

...all took Iran's side and wouldn't cooperate with DimBulb. So apparently Bush and his minions are moving on to Plan-B. I think Plan-B consists of having Rice try and sweet talk Iran into disarming their entire country before we invade like we did with Iraq. I don't expect the Iranians will fall for that trick though.

Everyone keeps saying the Iranian president is crazy.

I agree. Crazy like a fox.

4. It's not "sweet talk" - it's a set-up
“U.S. prepared to talk with Iran” is supposed to make the harried and halfway-paying-attention public think that everybody is going to get together, talk things over and work out a deal conducive to all parties. Sounds “diplomatic” and reasonable. But that’s not what’s happening.

"(T)he United States…is holding direct talks with Iran…if Iran …first agrees…” That’s not a prelude to diplomatic talks but an unreasonable demand. Imagine one executive saying to another “I want to buy your company. Sign it over to me and then we’ll talk price.” That’s the type of deal * is offering, guaranteed to bring a “Fuck you!” response.

This is a carefully orchestrated maneuver intended to prime an unsuspecting public for an Iran attack. When the “diplomacy” fails as we all know it will, * can say “Well, we tried but Iran is being disagreeable and we have no choice but to respond militarily.” And the public will shuffle along, muttering to themselves “Yeah, we tried, right?” and go about their business while * drives us straight into the brick wall of an epic world crisis.
