This doctor has some NERVE!!!11!!!
How dare this MD offer me two free one months supplies of script meds (one for bp and one antidepression drug, not cheap) because he knows I have no health insurance at the moment and can't really afford it. Why he might actually CARE. HOw scary is that? And why didn't he offer me magical yak urine either? I mean come on, he had me there in his office not feeling well desperate for relief. How ethical can a guy get. Sheesh. And the one drug I paid for ($15 dollars)? How is he gonna ge a kickback on such a cheap med?
Obviously he has not been keeping up on what expensive drugs he should be handing out regardless....

This post is for chicagomd so he can here SOMETHING positive about his profession here on DU...:hi:
BTW for all the problems in our HC system here, its obvious that many doctors do try to work around the flaws..I should say that for my visit and my three scripts I paid about $100, which all things considered is fairly reasonable for uninsured.
(oh yeah and the cute med student/intern helped too...)

1. You know...
I was actually looking for something positive today, thanks!

This whole concept of kick-backs from drug companies just floors me. Every day I await my check and oddly it never comes.

2. But you get free pens
That's got to be worth hundreds of dollars over the course of your career.

3. I guess the checks for supporting evidence based medicine are less
since I'm not an MD but I'm still waiting too. Have I been criticizing woo for nothing?! Where's my cash?!

4. Well I think doctors are wonderful.
I have no experience of American ones but if they're anything like the ones we have over here then they're fine in my book.

7. Glad to hear about the free medicines and the cute medical student!
For anti-anxiety medication AND BP, might I suggest avoiding a certain poster in the health forum!

9. I didn't use to believe in the whole chemtrails thing either...
until someone showed me a video on youtube. I lost the link but it was very convincing. It involved a banana. And a wire cage, lit on fire. And maybe some Pink Floyd music, but don't quote me on that part.

11. Good for you.
You will be the wiser for it. It will make you a better person in the most profoundest of ways. Your muscles will be firmer, your lungs will be cleaner, your check book will balance easier.

Actually, I'll be curious as to your impression. The first time I saw it (which was high school) I wasn't terribly impressed. Then I saw it in college and I laughed my ass off. I had the same reaction to the shows Red Dwarf and South Park: didn't like them so much at first, but gradually came to LOVE them.

Be sure to report back to me and temeah.
