Annual Meeting of TDP Progressive Populist Caucus 2/23/08
The Texas Democratic Party Progressive Populist Caucus (PPC) will hold it's annual meeting on February 23, 2008. Please mark the date!

We welcome our keynote speaker, James K. Galbraith, a progressive economist who writes frequently for mainstream and liberal publications on economic topics.

We will also be discussing the upcoming conventions and how to participate in this process as we move closer to the November 2008 elections.

After 8 years of the Bush administration's policies, we will be working harder than ever to promote the issues we care about as progressive Democrats. Inclusion and participation in Texas Democratic Party politics is critical to our success.

It's time we take our government and Party back. We hope you will join us!

What: PPC Annual Meeting 2008
When: Feb 23, 2008

Where: Conley-Guerrero Senior Activity Center
808 Nile Street
Austin, Texas 78702
Ph. 512-478-7695

3. PPC Odessa are meeting this weekend 1/19/08
The Texas Progressive Populist Caucus (PPC) invites you to participate and discuss the Democratic Party’s rightful place in Texas as the organized political voice for justice and fairness for the ordinary Texan. History teaches that when we provide that organized voice in an effective manner, we always represent the majority. We want to know what you think needs to be done to restore the rightful place of the Democratic Party in Texas as that majority voice.

Please feel free to bring others from your county with you. The meeting will be open to all interested Democrats and all in attendance will be encouraged to join in the discussions.

2. Not on the agenda but ripe for discussion
will be furthering the PPC's (and associated caucuses within the TDP) efforts to elect the convention chair this summer in Austin.

More on the agenda:

Recruit and orient new members. Broadcast a populist message of historic party-building opportunity –- a grassroots uprising –- not a laundry list of litmus tests, complaints, and pleadings. Train SD floor leaders.

You are invited to join us for that "change" we keep hearing so much about.

4. Kicking for this weekend (event time is noon to 3 p.m. BTW)
The Ditties are in town, staying down at the Austin Motel, and will be available post-event for eating, drinking and dancing.

Well, maybe just eating and drinking.

Any thoughts on a little meet-up?

5. Yes we changed the time just recently
Keynote Speaker: James K. GALBRAITH is the author of Unbearable Cost: Bush, Greenspan and the Economics of Empire.

Professor Galbraith holds the Lloyd M. Bentsen Jr. Chair in Government/Business Relations at the LBJ School. He serves as a policy advisor to the OBAMA campaign, having previously served in that capacity for the EDWARDS campaign.

All Democrats are welcome. The PPC caucus does not charge dues.

Austin DU/PPC get together
Yes let's get together somewhere. I suggest Opal Divines on S. Congress. Good out door patio too.

John B. of the PPC suggested Scholz Garten, but frankly I'm going to be sick of Scholz this week with all the debate viewing.
