Bob Roberts (AKA:Tim Robbins) Should Take on These Town Hall Mobsters

If there was ever a time to do a sequel to the classic BOB ROBERTS directed by Tim Robbins, it would be now.I would love to see him tackle the Birthers and the Town Hall Mobsters. Anyway we can get a message to Tim? Maybe he could do some mock PSA or a web series. What better way to mock these mrons than with good old fashion political satire that goes over their heads?

1. At the end of the original movie, Roberts had essentially staged a fascist takeover

By this point, had that actually occurred, anyone seeking free medical care would face summary execution. And we'd have all been shot long ago.

3. You are in for a treat!

It's a FANTASTIC movie. One of my all time favorites.Very timely. Political satire at it's very best. Be sure to watch for a young Jack Black as a right wing Conservative fanatic when meeting his hero, Bob Roberts. The entire cast is perfect!

I bought a house at the end of June and still have not set up my TV (decided to unplug from cable when I moved) and DVD player but will get around to it one of these days when the yard work and other projects wind down for the winter, if not sooner ...

5. I don't think it was a "big blockbuster" success movie

More like one of those "cult classics". The "cult" being political junkies, in this case. Or at least that's been my experience with anyone who's heard of the movie.

I wasn't aware that it had been released on DVD, so I had to download my own bootleg copy of it a while back. And for any MPAA trolls monitoring the board, I'll be happy to replace that with a legit copy, as soon as I find one.

6. It's become

more and more meaningful as time goes by. Especially during the Bush years. Bob Roberts is the ultimate Freeper and Tim Robbins brings a lot of intelligence to the film.

7. I remember thinking it was great satire when I first watched it in the early 90's

But I never thought the actual right wingers could be that much over the top. Now they have caught up, maybe even gone past the Roberts character. Kind of like the movie "Network" in that respect (Though Network wasn't presented as satire). Nobody in 1976 ever really thought the media would get that corporatized.

God help us if Mike Judge's "Idiocracy" becomes the reality, as those two movies have. :scared:

8. Please, no more celebrities "helping" our cause

Hollywood types are generally uninformed nitwits who do more harm than good. And Robbins and his wife are more egregious than most.

9. Robbins has always been informed on the issues, as is Susan Sarandon

So is George Clooney. So is Danny Glover.

None of them have done anything that hurt the progressive cause.
