2. They are funded by the same people that buy advertising space on the media

The media has shown that they'll give lots of coverage to the drug and health care issue, because ever notice how many drug and insurance commercials there are?

21. exactly. This is all total media manipulation and these protestors are PAID to be at these meetings
Then images of the "angry, scared old guys with canes" from various Town Hall meetings can be shown around the country, giving real-life middle-class social security age folks the idea that he/she must protest this evil new health care plan! Evil genius.

6. This is the sad state of the M$M.
Freedom of speech is getting unbalanced coverage. Why isn't this, in and of itself, a story? You will never hear a word about it on C-Span or NPR.

9. Indeed it is!
The state of the media, when the history books are written, will be one of the significant factor in how the Republic and its citizen was left to fester. Without a free press (and this one is bought and paid for) there is no democracy!

8. The sad part is that they'll stop the Town Hall meetings
Because they'll be forced to. Someone is probably going to get violent in one of them, or bring a concealed gun or attack the opposition.

This group of losers are obviously very easy to manipulate if they can be literally shuttled around like cattle, armed with talking points and instructed on how to disrupt successfully, all against their own interests. It's time to take their organizers very seriously. They may well be below average in intelligence, but their masters aren't.

I'm afraid there will be violence. This 'Angry American' has been building since early in Clinton's administration. There are people in that group who know only Rush and O'Reilly as their news sources.

They don't need righteousness or facts or even a real cause. All they need is anger.

10. I worry about violence at these town halls, I wonder if any of them will really snap.
And yes, it really began with Clinton and Waco, Ruby Ridge, the Oklahoma City bombing. I remember watching the news about the Ok City bombing at 19 and in college. Its seems like these idiots were waiting for another Dem to get in and harass and now they are harassing other people as well.

11. And 7 years later most Democrats and Republicans continue to vote for the war funding!
Edited on Tue Aug-04-09 03:47 PM by Better Believe It
Doesn't that just piss you off FrenchieCat?

And now they have three wars going, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq!

The problem is the demonstrations ended once the Democrats took control of Congress. Anti-war groups thought the war funding would end in 2006. Now they think the wars will end in 2010, or 2011, possibly 2013, perhaps 2016, maybe 2020.

In any case, we sure can't march against war funding so long as Democrats run Washington. Perhaps we can fire up the anti-war movement if the Republicans regain control of Congress and the White House in 2012.

In the meantime we can hide our heads in the sand and pretend everything is just wonderful in the middle east and Asia.

Whatcha think?

12. My marching in the streets had more to do with the concept on fighting wars
for no good reason, rather than anything dealing with funding.

As for the current ME strategy by this new administration to extricate ourselves from the mess that was created by the previous administration, and doing so without making things worse, and by the way, working diligently on the mother of them all; the Israel/Palestinian issue....is too young to pass judgement on by those who would like to do just that, and call it all a simple failure, cause they wanted a giant kumbaya breaking out around 1/20/09, and so they didn't get it, and so they are unhappy.

15. You would not believe how it ticks me off.
I put a large portion of the blame for where America is today directly into the lap of the corporate media. They suck.

I can't watch anymore. Not even the good stuff, like Keith or Rachel. I'm so fed up that I didn't bother watching Countdown last night even though I knew KO was giving a Special Comment. I watched the video here when I logged in this morning.

I've had it. There are a few journalists that still have my respect, but the vast majority are nothing but paid liars.

20. i respect your opinion, but ratings are the lifeblood of shows like keith's rachel's and ed's.
as soon as these shows lose ad bucks, they're gone.

that's why i watch these three shows live, to do my little part to keep them alive.

30. Hmmmm...when we had our dish installed, they wanted to hook up a phone line to the TV.
When we asked why it was needed, we were told that it would allow Caller ID to show up on the television screen, and it would allow the dish company to track what we watch. We declined.

Is there some other way my viewing habits are being tracked? Any link you have explaining it would be most appreciated. :-)

Investigative Journalism is dead in American MSM. A tiny, miiscule amount of investigating would produce a great story. Health Insurers, GOP secretly fund and organize phony "grassroots" protests nationwide...

They blatantly ignored the massive demonstrations against the war, but they love showing these ass hats yelling at town meetings. No attempt to really tie the outbursts to a scheme with deep roots in the health insurance industry.
