Repubs: She's not really very smart. she's an affirmative action appointment
that's where they're going to go. it's already started. that and they'll do the usual liberal activist crap. they're going to try and portray her as not intellectually qualified. She's a summa cum laude graduate of Princeton and a Yale law review editor. She's sat on the bench since 1991 and they're going to try and demean her in that way.

11. So that canard from Republicans is just
foolish angry lying to make themselves look "intelligent"!!!!!!!!!

RIGHT

Anyone who gets into Princeton Law School is, (by Republican definition) not intelligent.

Anyone who is top in their class is (by Republican definition)not smart.

6. Same thing they say about the President...
With all the teleprompter and "he's just a celebrity" snarks and their childish criticisms of his occasional "uhs"... It's like they can't wrap their small minds around the reality that there actually intelligent, successful non-whites.

10. That may be the knee jerk reactions
however I doubt the GOP will go with the AA talking point, in the long run. The GOP is still trying to court the hispanic vote, so I doubt they will want to go that route.

I wonder if they can come up with something that will offend both Hispanics AND women this time. (Two words: 'Pussy Galore')

"She's a summa cum laude graduate of Princeton and a Yale law review editor." No reasonable person can deny that she's qualified. Affirmative action is about putting in a qualified racial and/or gender minority for the purpose of diversity. The supreme court is virtually all white males. This country has changed dammit, and it's time that our courts reflect that change.

23. Plus--she fails the crucial Republican "activist" test
Republicans want guys like Clarence Thomas--a guy who sleeps through
Supreme Court hearings can't be an activist, and they want more of
those types. Let Scalia and Roberts dictate rulings, have Kennedy and
Alito rubber stamp them, and wake Thomas up when it's time to cast the
fifth deciding vote for the radical right.

Then the five of them yell "nyahh nyahh" to Bader-Ginsbug, Breyer,
Stevens, and Souter (or Sotomayor) and go out for champagne.

And gee, many of them voted FOR her in her previous confirmation hearings. Her intellectual prowess didn't seem to be an issue back them. Hmmmm.

25. Minor correction. She was not an editor of the Yale law review
She was an editor of the Yale Law Journal.

Yale tries very hard to be special and refuses to call it's law review, a "law review." It's "the" Yale Law Journal.
