Fuck the Republicans...HARD

Excuse my french, but enough is a-fucking-nough.

This Kumbayah bullshit has to stop now.

Fuck every last one of the Republicans and every DINO along with them. These people are the ENEMIES of America. They are the bought & paid for leeches. They are corporate whores. They don't give a rat's ass about the people of this nation.

They are criminals.

They are thieves.

They are murderers.

You don't fix the problems of a nation by acquiescing to the people who fucking broke it in the first place. You want to change the 'tone' in Washington? Here's an idea. How about speaking the truth? How about Obama getting up every night before America (press conference, daily video) and call their asses out on their lying criminal behavior. Tell the people the consequences of what the Republicans are doing. Tell them that they are actively working to stop the recovery of this nation. Name names. Every time they send out a new lie (talking point), Obama should take the stage and slam them with the truth. Shame them. Expose them.

The American people would give him a standing ovation.

People did NOT vote for Obama to negotiate with thieves and crooks. We did not donate our money and our time for this administration to have tea and cookies with the sleaze balls who would sell their own mother for a buck. And, if Obama continues along this path for very long, it won't be a stretch to conclude that bipartisanship is nothing more then collusion, and the dems are doing nothing but playing a grotesque game of good cop/bad cop.

Enough is a FUCKING nough.

Further, your sarcastic pokes at peoples' suffering shows true sociopath behavior as it exhibits a complete inability to feel empathy. People are outraged for real, solid and valid reasons, there's nothing "diffuse" about it.

One or more of the following are required:

1. Indifference to human suffering, as indicated by the posting of images that mock the level of general rancor displayed in an internet post.

2. Failure to conform to social norms, as indicated by sloganeering and/or obtuse insults. (n.b., there is no difference between the two indications.)

Let Obama be Obama - he's already luring the Rethugs into destroying themselves, and in a Christian way, no less.
In the book of Proverbs, Chapter 25, Verses 21-22: "If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you."

How wonderfully ironic to destroy the RW with Christian principles, no?

60. this is politics, not religion
Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 08:11 PM by Two Americas
The goal of religion is to improve individuals, and to judge and analyze everything upon that basis.

The goal of politics is to change the conditions under which people live.

Approaching politics as though it were religion is inherently reactionary, since it can only benefit those who are already well-off if our attention is diverted away from politics and over to self-improvement - away from thinking in public terms, and over to thinking in personal terms. If it is all about individuals, and no one individual is "better" than anyone else - so therefore what people are saying should be dismissed and ignored - that precludes building any mass movement. That can only serve privilege, and promote the needs and desires of the wealthy and powerful few who control our lives.

Personalization of political issues takes many forms, including placing the personal qualities of individual politicians above political issue son importance, characterizing the political opinions of others we disagree with as "what they want," as well as a wide variety of clever and destructive methods for assassinating the character of those expressing dissent, and the tossing around of derogatory and malicious accusations such as "crazy" and "tinfoil."

Another deceptive rhetorical trick is to say "don't get me wrong, I agree with you, but not with the way you are going about it." We saw this used with devastating and malicious effect recently against GLBTQ folks and their defenders, and the community is still badly fractured by that. Fracturing the community is the goal, so that the few can intimidate the many and dominate the discussion.

We are witnessing modern "liberal" and "progressive" politics being hijacked and transformed into a mean spirited and aggressive defense of privilege and power. This now represents a greater threat than the right wing, since it is so deceptive and convoluted, and since it is always worse to be wounded in the house of your friends since you cannot see it coming as easily nor defend yourself.

Saying that "you are no better than the thugs you oppose" is a variation on an age old attack that has been used against every movement for social justice and freedom. The goal there is to portray "both sides" as equally "bad," to scare people away from the dissenters and back into the fold, and that is an obvious defense of the status quo and an assault on any opposition to entrenched wealth and power and privilege.

In the 1850's, the Abolitionists were told they were "no better" than the slave owners. The opponents of the Abolitionists said that "not all slave owners are bad" and that "not all slaves are saints."

The same argument was used against the early Labor organizers, against the Suffragettes, the Civil Rights movement and every other political movement that fought for the people.

Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 04:36 PM by mvd
Really, people like McCain have nerve. The people voted for change. The Repukes wrecked the country. I think Obama has gone far enough so far in a plan to soften opposition. I support what he has done, but I hope he doesn't significantly alter the spending and targeted tax cuts. If anything, there should be more spending and help for the middle class and poor.

21. Yes, but what if their problem is that they're unconscious?
Edited on Mon Feb-02-09 04:36 PM by Gregorian
I'm beginning to think that even the worst of them actually don't really know what they're doing. Now that isn't always the case. And I can hear arguments coming from all directions. And rightly so. But just what is unconsciousness? I believe this is very important for us to see. It requires a broad perspective. A very open mind.

But just what if? Ask yourself. Do you want to solve the problem, or get even. Look at what throwing people in jail has done to decrease violence and drug use. None. As a silly example, just how many people have been saved by those stupid, noisy backup horns? None. What we need to teach is consciousness.

Now I'm not saying these people aren't evil, sick, greedy, violent, and every other thing in the book. I'm saying that it's our job to get under it and find a way to wake them the hell up. And that goes for most of us, too. This goes way beyond politics.

What I believe we have is a bunch of people operating out of dogmas. Out of methods. Out of calculation. They actually believe they're doing something good. Of course they don't. But they have duped themselves. If only that maybe the Iraq war was a means by which Bush's buddies could make BIG money. That was their goal. They did just what they set out to do. Had they been conscious, had they known just what they did, they'd be in a living hell right now. These so-called beautiful minds are just that. They never allow themselves to see the suffering they've created. They are uncconscious.

You can't punish someone into consciousness. Just like you cannot bomb the world into peace.

I don't konw what we do. But I do know that we have to start with the correct concept. Who are we dealing with? What is wrong with them? Hell, I say throw these idiots in jail. But for the sake of our future, we have to begin waking people up to reality. Because reality is liberal.

Hate is hate, wherever it comes from, or whatever the platform for its distribution.
It is reprehensible, no matter the platform. Scale may be different, but intent is the same.

71. Because I am speaking the truth...please give me a break with the bipartisan bs

The Republicans do NOT represent the American people (and neither do a hell of a lot of dems).

Don't you get that?

You can't be bipartisan with people who have ZERO interest in working with you. Look at the state of our country. The result of Republican rule and democrat acquiescence. It is a disaster.

There comes a time when you fight. When you say - ENOUGH IS ENOUGH...You stop being victims of abusers. You stand up and do what is right.

36. Very well said. I don't like (and have never liked) the blanket
"us vs. them" alive on either side, but I'm feeling more partisan than I ever thought I would - I'm angry too. I still believe that there are good people who also happen to be Republicans. I don't think many (at best) are currently holding public office, though... because the ones that are are just really making me mad.

61. I'm confused by this
"People did NOT vote for Obama to negotiate with thieves and crooks. We did not donate our money and our time for this administration to have tea and cookies with the sleaze balls who would sell their own mother for a buck."

Isn't that precisely what Obama promised all along?

I understand you might have been hoping the guy in this cartoon was right... I know I am!

62. Didn't they lose the election?
I'm kinda fuzzy on the details, but don't winners get to choose the agenda?

Obama should act as if he did win.

63. They didn't lose EVERY election. So they have some toys to play with
But they certainly lost LOTS of elections and have fewer toys to play with than we do. The only question is whether we need their toys at all or can we tell them to take their toys and shove 'em.

If we are right and he is wasting his time, he will figure it out quick and change course. That's the only way I can tolerate it because you are 100% correct, these people are criminals and have ZERO interest in doing what is best for the country. They are methodical and evil and they are not to be trusted. They spent Clinton's entire 8 years tearing him down and undermining his Presidency in order to install Herr Bush and his evil regime. The Clintons survived because they aren't pushovers. People didn't fall for that impeachment crap because it was obviously hypocritcal, politically motivated garbage and the GOP made fools of themselves but they still managed to get Bush into the White House. I say a) let them hang themselves by continuing to obstruct anything productive and b)nail them for all of their criminal activity. Election results notwithstanding, most people STILL don't know the depths of their evil. If they are not fully exposed, they will rise again only better disguised next time.

74. There is a time when you stand up and say ENOUGH - that is the point of my post

There is a time to get angry.

There is a time to fight back.

There is a time to STOP the abuse of the people by the corporations.

76. And how will you do that.
Anger alone does not equal action, particularly not smart action.

Fighting back only matters if you can fight back in a manner that will work. Surely the grand gesture is inspiring and impressive, but throwing a pie in some CEO's face, or crashing a tractor into McDonalds does nothing substantial.

So you're angry, GOOD. So you want to fight back, VERY GOOD. So you want the abuse of the people by corporate power to stop EXCELLENT! WHAT IS YOUR PLAN? What do you want to do about all this? You're pissed off, ready and rearing to go, but where are you going?

78. Frankly, I want to know.
I agree, Obama might be well advised to put more teeth into his engagement with the Right. But that said, if the OP wants this, I would like to see a strategy that goes beyond F--- them. (As far as I can tell, only Senator Vitter would really enjoy that)

79. But I thought it was pretty clear that we elected someone with a different mindset
He will not fuck em hard. He will try to bring the country together and find compromise between left and right.

Actually, my other post was a cheap shot, and I apologize to that person. I have no way of knowing how active they are. Posting on an internet board doesn't mean you do nothing.

But I agree that it's entirely to easy to rant to the extreme without any realistic idea of how one's goals can be accomplished. Sometimes folks seem a bit disconnected from how things actually work in the world.

80. Exactly.
Obama made a point of stating that he is here to bring the country together, not to rip it apart, he is going to try to defuse the bomb, not blow it up. Unfortunately, it seems that we have become addicted to the idea of needing cathartic conflict, if there is no battle, no rush to the barricades, no bloodshed, no sound and fury (regardless of what it signifies) then obviously nothing is getting done. What we fail to understand is that the noise is usually just noise, and what is really going on goes on in lengthy, boring and monotonous negociations behind closed doors while we all stare at the theatre. Obama is trying to open the doors, and show us what's really going on, unfortunately we have become accostumed to political bloodsport (nothing new here, it's kind of always been this way) and hence there are many who are dissatisfied with seeing how things are really done.

And, they are not there yet.

YET being the operative word...

This is not the man we elected. We elected a uniter and a moderate. He will not "fuck em hard". He will reach across the aisle. Deal with it.

So deal with that when nothing changes and the status quo remains just like Edwards warned everyone about.

83. Yes, our side did win, but the 37% let's us know
how tenuous that victory was. Obviously the administration needs to get moving and come up with the right message and right delivery to turn that around. Of course, polls being what they are, if you asked "do you want a big economic stimulus plan" the yes answer would be in the high fifties or low sixties... the quoted poll simply asked do you want "this" stimulus plan. And they asked the question after four or five days of the GOP framing the public dialog and hammering small, but questionable, parts of the overall package.
