"Free tickets to see Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama in Billings on Monday were the hottest ticket in town Friday morning. All 2,000 tickets were gone in two hours.
Those who didn't get tickets can see Obama in Crow Agency on Monday afternoon but are encouraged to get there well ahead of the 2:45 p.m. event.
The line formed early in front of Obama's campaign headquarters on North Broadway. By 10 a.m., when the doors opened, several hundred people formed a line that stretched halfway around the block to the parking garage on North 29th Street.
"I was here at 5:37 a.m., baby," said Stephanie Morrison, a 26-year-old Billings woman who was first in line. "I was seriously afraid that, like, the line would be stretched around the block."
Morrison is seriously excited about Obama. "I voted for him absentee yesterday," she said. "I love his positions."
Obama, she said, engages people in political dialogue. "I'm all about civil involvement. I'm on the volunteer list."
Morrison, who works at the Friendship House, wore a black-and-white T-shirt that said on the back, "You Barack my world, Mr. Obama."
"I designed it myself," she said."
