I use the term Right Wing Authoritarian in the same way Bob Altemeyer uses it in his research.
And I've come to the conclusion that Hillary Clinton is a RWA, or at least panders heavily to them.
Just to refresh, a Right Wing Authoritarian has the following characteristics.
Authoritarian Submission - the tendency to submit to an authority figure, completely and blindly, even if the authority figure violates trust or does dishonest, unethical and destructive things.
Authoritarian Aggression - the trait that causes one to use force to attempt to impose the authority figure on others. Occasionally, it manifests as physical violence, but more often, it appears as dirty tricks, manipulation, harsh punishments on members of outgroups, etc.
Conventionalism - The tendency to want to follow, and want others to follow established conventions and customs.
Yeah. Between her nasty campaign tactics, her and her follower's complete and utter lack of logic and refusal to listen to reason or math, her associations with the DLC, Doug Noe's fundie prayer group, and her bumping elbows with Murdoch, Scaife, O'Reilly, even Rush Limbaugh (yep, Bill was on Limbaugh's show), she's shown all the classic signs.
And a great number of her followers are right-wing authoritarians too - just look at all the flamage and nastiness here on GD-P, mostly instigated by the Clinton supporters. We get accused of sexism just because we think Obama's a better candidate, we get constant trolls, name-calling, mockery and attacks.
It's who she caters to - people have called the voters she caters to the "Archie Bunker" demographic, hicks, etc., but really, what we're dealing with is right wing authoritarians.
