Grandma died in the nineties, a survivor of the Great Depression, two dead babies that would have survived in today's world with today's medicine, and two World Wars, plus Korea and Vietnam and Gulf War I.
She'd vote for Hillary. Guaranteed. I know this from the close conversations we had when I was a young Mom, and she was the respected Matriarch. She hoped for it often. She was proud of her vote for Roosevelt, and loved Eleanor deeply. She was such a proud Democrat.
My mom is no longer political, as is her right as a Jehovah's Witness. They don't choose sides, and generally don't vote. But knowing my Mom, if she were to vote, she'd vote for Hillary as well.
My own sister occasionally posts here, and is a staunch Hillary supporter. I love her, I respect her choice( anything but Bush McSame!) and I could never go against my family in terms of respect for their choice.
Anymore than they would go against me. Do I make my position clear? I am behind Obama completely. But I will not go negative against my family either. I am the proud woman that I am, because of the other proud women in my family. I know that they support me, and I support them. It's a political race, that's all. Whatever small agony of defeat we may feel, be it them, or me, is nothing. They will support me if Obama is nominated, I will support them if Hillary is nominated.
What's so damned hard about that? Why can't I just be proud to be a Dem today?
