Whatever happened to NGU?
Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 01:08 PM by Heidi
NGU: Never give up!*

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_oet&address=358x190#n

*Whoever you're supporting, NGU. Please. I'm an Edwards supporter, and I'm never giving up on the principles we share as progressives. You?

2. Even if it means me being the malcontent "bitch" writing letters to a new Dem president ever week
beginning January 2009, I'm NGU.

7. I made a bunch of calls this morning to Senators
telling them to add unemployment, LIHEAP and food stamps to the stimulus package instead of rolling over for Bush like Nancy Pelosi did. I called Obama and Clinton since I figured they are my Senators now too.

4. ever since I got thrown by a windmill, I have a chronic back injury
so I am not much of a fighter any more. Not much of a lover either, but that's neither here nor there.

Seems like my principles just became roadkill, mowed down by Hillary's money machine and the M$M Obamafest. I expected it to happen, but until the doctor came out of surgery I was still clinging to a slim hope that Tinkerbell had just sustained a flesh wound.

6. You're still a formidable lover and fighter.
I know you well enough to know you have a brilliant mind and can write a scathing letter. Don't like Hillary? Don't like Obama? Once either of them is elected, use the strength you have to hold their damn feet to the fire.

The doctor asked me to dispense this:

8. LittleClarkie, I don't run into you much.
Seems we run in different circles (and that's too bad), but I've been meanin' to give you somethin'.

Here it is:

11. Crying's okay, but there's a time to get on with the work.
Fortunately, I'm pressed for time (being my age and all) so I rush through the cryin' and get on to the next damn thing. And the next damn thing is getting a Democrat elected President. If it's not my favorite Democrat, not the one who'll champion each of my burning issues, I'll spend the next four to eight years raisin' hell. We've gotten good at the raisin' hell thing; hope we don't have to use it with a Democrat president, but if we do, we do.

12. Ask John Edwards and Dennis Kucinich. It's difficult to support a candidate
who doesn't support his own bid.

13. Have we gotten so bad that we expect others, like Edwards of Kucinich, to shoulder the full burden
for us?

Just something to consider.

14. No, but it's futile to fight for a campaign whose leader prematurely ended it.

16. Do you not understand that none of them OWE us anything?
The reality of life is that _we_ are the dog. _They_ are just the tails. If we're not willing to take charge and wag the tail, well then . . . shrug.

Period. End of storty.

This is my last Presidential Election; There's no way in hell I'm sitting this out. I could never live w/ myself if I did so.
