Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 10:16 AM by corkhead
just a quick straw poll to see where we are headed now that we have been scattered to the wind...

edited to add "don't know yet"

1. You need a "Don't know" column.
Cause the choices left are awful IMHO.

It came more quickly than I thought, but I was resigned to the inevitable. Our corporate masters did him in.

I've stated (many times) that I will never support Clinton.
And Obama is doing everything in his power to *ALSO* lose
my possible vote for him in the General Election (although
I haven't reached that decision quite yet).

So I'll just sit back and see who else runs and under what
banners.

I'm certainly far, far done with this idea that I should
vote for any asshole with a D after their name when that
asshole, once elected, routinely votes and speaks against
my positions and interests.

I salute the Edwards' and their important message!

11. hey guys
I'm a Clinton supporter. There were times where in the debates I was yelling at the screen at Edwards...but I know he was a great man and a great candidate. I know you guys were 100% Edwards. He had a great message. If both HRC and Obama were smart they will carry the message of Edwards on their sleeves. I know it's not the last we'll see of Edwards and I can't wait to see what he will do next to help fix and improve our country.

Thanks you Edwards people for everything you have done and everything you will do in the future. Edwards time in the Primary may be over but his message lives.

But they won't. They've run far and fast from anything
smacking of true populism.

The Edwards people should let Obama and Clinton know they want Edwards message to still be heard. The Edwards Democrats need to be louder than ever before.

16. My second choice is Obama.
I also have heard and read from many Obama supporters (outside the party faithful), that if the race came down to Clinton and McCain, they'd go with McCain.

Clinton fatigue, the idea of a Bill and Hill Rerun. They want change and Hillary isn't it. Not that McCain is either, IMHO.

20. corkhead, if you want to get a more accurate opinion, ask the same question, but not as a poll
In all the polls, you know darn well that many of the Obama & Clinton supporters are going to vote in this, giving you a false reflection of how Edwards supporters feel.

I'd like to see what the Edwards supporters have to say for themselves, without tainted poll results saying it for them.

In case you're wondering, no I didn't vote for Hillary in this poll. I didn't vote in it period. I swear on a stack of golden bibles. lol

28. No Kidding
I bet half of these Obama Clinton votes here were never made by Edwards supporters.I'll probably just take a break now. The reprehensible behavior I've seen here from the supporters of the other two really turned me off. On a scale of 0 to -10 I'd put the Obamatons at -8 and the Clintonites at -6 . Looks like another election where I will wind up voting against someone instead of for someone :(

21. Up until a couple days ago, my second choice was Clinton, but now I'm not so sure
If anyone is wondering, it was her standing up and applauding the surge at the SOTU and her little Florida escapade that gave me second thoughts.

I've also had my doubts about Obama (failure to support universal health care, apparent total lack of interest in building the Democratic brand, unnecessary uses of right-wing frames) which is why he was my third choice.

So, yeah, I'll be doing some more research soon.

By the way, did I mention I'm in, Missouri, a Feb. 5th state?

24. just a suggestion for Edwards supporters
Before settling on a choice, a review of the two candidates positions and statements you may not have been paying a lot of attention to would be probably not be a bad idea. No rush though. If it was me I would need a few days before doing it.

appointed and sworn in 2001.

Yeah...I'll vote for Sen. Clinton or Sen Obama, but I am now totally convinced that our political process is completely under corporate control, and there is nothing that I can possibly do within this compromised system to help regain democracy in the United States.

Neither Clinton or Obama appeal to me, primarily because neither has adopted any type of pro-democratic platform whatsoever, and because I doubt that either will defeat McCain in the GE.

I wasn't totally excited about John Kerry in 2004, but I supported him and worked for him because he was at least somewhat pro-democracy.

But I'm not going to devote any substantial amount of my time and energy working for celebrity candidates that have not demonstrated that they have the best interests of my country at heart.

I just hope that through some miracle Al Gore decides to jump into the race.
