Man...If We Could Just Harness The Tenaciousness Of Certain Hillary Supporters...
we wouldn't need to develop alternative fuels!

Gotta admit, they are political pit-bulls.

They never let go.

11. The Thing Is... I'm Dying To Ask A REAL Political Question About The HRC Campaign...
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 08:41 PM by WillyT
but I don't bother, because (and this may be due to the reality of GD-P) I don't think I'll get anything like an actual well-considered response.

28. OK... I'll Play...
I've been watching politics from about the mid-60's. Don't know as much as I'd like to, but feel like I have an inkling about how certain things effect the voters and therefore the vote.

And I posted a thread (can one do that if nobody responds, LOL?) that stated how much I was enjoying this political season.

Link: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2665769

THAT came to a crashing end...

And it did so when I, my mom (poll worker, campaign office admin, officer of AU), and just about all my political friends said about Bill Clinton's actions, "What the HELL is he doing?"

For some, it was the fact that ex-presidents don't do that. For others, it looked a whole lot like he was doing some sort of compassionate race-baiting. For many, it reminded those of us who have defended and supported both Bill and Hillary for many a year... why we have "problems" with them.

My question: Doesn't anybody in the Hill\Bill camp, even here at DU, recognize that he "stepped in it"?

30. Hard for me to answer your question
You've predicated it on a premise that I don't subscribe to.

I suppose that is because my requirements for a President seem to be different than your's.

From your linked post, It would seem that a POTUS needs to be some sort of inspirational figure.
My requirements for a President are entirely different.

I don't want or need inspiration from a President.

I need someone to do the work needed to Govern for the People.

If I want inspiration --I will look to The People.

People like Martin Luther King Jr.
People like Cindy Sheehan
People like yourself.

31. Thank You...
When I was young (as you read), I got a taste, a fleeting taste, for inspiring leaders. And I don't know your age, but I really do hope you get to experience that at least once in your life.

Pragmatically speaking however...

I am hoping that the Obama train truly catches fire. Not because I think he's the Second Coming or anything, but because I'm seeing all sorts of young and\or disenfranchised people get excited and involved in the process.

My mom who has worked various campaigns and has registered hundreds of voters over the years tells me that a buddy of hers who is still doing that, reports that hundreds of people are coming in and switching form Republican to Democrat. Which is good news for ALL of us.

My thing with Obama, is that if we can really harness this thing, we might just end up with some sort of landslide. And if we were to get such a mandate, we would significantly increase our margins in both houses of Congress, and would be more likely to push through the measures that this country needs.

And although I will vote for Senator Clinton if she is the nominee, I fear that the race will be closer, and that the margins and measures in Congress will be smaller.

Peace...

:hi:

it's the Hillary supporters who are comprised of paid shills. Huh? Look at her poll numbers, does it really surprise you that there are people who support her without having to be connected with her campaign?!? Your statement is so arrogant and makes me SO angry.

26. Then what's your point? I'm really curious. I simply do NOT understand most of what I see
here in GD:P. Name-calling, factoid-digging, irrelevant-point-raising posts that, for the most part, are solely attacking one candidate rather than trying to sway voters to the poster's favored candidate.

I just don't get it. And if you weren't intending to attack supporters of Mrs Clinton, what WERE you trying to say with your post?

I'd really like to know - because, as I said, I simply don't get it.

29. That's Easy...
and I ain't naming names here, but there are several people who, in their obvious support of Hillary Clinton, have gone off the deepest of Kool-Aid ends.

I have yet to see ONE criticism from these people of the campaign they say they support.

Hell, I'm gonna vote for what ever Democrat gets the nomination. But as an observer of politics, I could describe for you, both the things I thought were smart, and stupid, of ALL the campaigns.

I thought people here at DU were basically political junkies, and had that same capacity.

Apparently I was wrong.

12. Obama followers love this little trick: post a thread purporting to "complain"
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 08:42 PM by Harvey Korman
about the conduct of another candidate's supporters as an excuse to attack said supporters en masse and their candidate at the same time.

I've even seen it done preemptively--as in, let's speculate about how hateful and terrible X candidate's supporters will act after Y event happens.
