I'm SO PROUD that the news coverage tonight didn't reflect those members thoughts that Obama's victory would be tainted due to racial divide and you know who they are. These members were predicting that even if Obama got a 10% victory it wouldn't be enough. They even bookmarked some posts that said Obama would get a 15% victory b/c they didn't believe it could happen. They were so excited that Obama might get only 10% white vote, they could hardly contain themselves. They constantly threw it in our faces. Well judging from this dramatic, massive victory. IT WILL COUNT, IT DOES MATTER, and as some have said IT IS HISTORIC. It made me proud to be an american today, that we can unite, and we can prove those ppl who said race was the dividing factor WRONG. The voters in SC said "wait a minute, this is how I really feel" and it wasn't the racial divide ppl assumed it was going to be. I am very happy about that. Even if Obama doesn't end up winning, I'll remember today. I hope it makes everyone, and not just me proud that 77% of white voters in SC said that America was ready for a black president. We have come along way from the 60's, 70's 80's and even 90's.
The NYTIMES: "Senator Barack Obama won a commanding victory over Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in the South Carolina Democratic primary on Saturday, forging a coalition of support among black and white voters in a contest that sets the stage for a state-by-state fight for the party’s presidential nomination."
Not the headlines some here have wished for.
