Electoral Vote Counter
Posted by: Dale Franks

I
have created an electoral vote counter hosted online here at QandO. It's available here. It's also permanently linked from the "Resources" section of the sidebar on the left side of the page.

Bookmark it, you political junkies. You know you're gonna use it over and over again.

Oh, it requires the Flash player v9.

Maybe this can be useful

2. Good work. Democratic candidate gets 357 electoral votes, and
the Republican candidate gets 181 based on very reasonable assumptions.

3. Use it to prove that the Dems don't have to win in the South.
Just because so many like to play that song.

5. Yes, it's possible as long as...
...there is no "funny business" going on in FL, Ohio, NH, New Mexico, etc. It also leaves very little room for error, if you can't snag a state or two in the South. In 2000, for example, NH could have made the Florida debacle a moot point.

8. The entire NorthEast has turned deep blue since 2000.
Ohio is where no funny business can be.

12. In order to win without the South we will have to run the table everywhere else
No Democrat has won without at least splitting the South.

6. Another useful link for past electoral college results.
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:US_presidential_election_maps

You can see how the states voted for every election back to 1789. It's all very interesting, although the color schemes are out of whack from the 70's and back, i.e., the Dem.'s are red and the Repukes are blue.

The most shocking result I noticed was that Montana actually voted for Bill Clinton in 1992! They must have REALLY been pissed at GHWB!

9. Can you change the background?
I cannot read the blue votes at all.

Thanks.

10. It's just something I ran across.
The web site seems a little anti democratic.
