South Carolina's largest newspaper: Edwards is an angry political opportunist
Edited on Tue Jan-22-08 10:00 PM by randymaine
I see this as a low blow by the The State. Why can't they just endorse the best candidate without smearing others?
They even took a swipe at Kucinich. Oh lord.
And did I mention Edwards has the worst plan for Iraq withdrawal, according to them?

Clinton, who should have been criticized to a larger extent, was mildly addressed at the end of the piece.

This is an excerpt of today's editorial where The State made its case:

Looking at the remaining field: Rep. Dennis Kucinich offers a bold plan on health care, but his platform is an odd fit for us and for many in South Carolina. John Edwards has morphed away from the optimist who won South Carolina in 2004. The candidate who stayed mostly above the fray four years ago is angry now, and pushing hard to turn working-class angst into political opportunity. He also has tried to one-up the other top Democrats with the least prudent plan for withdrawing from Iraq.

1. Not only is a low blow, but they're tone deaf fuckers, too.
These are DIRE times, and Edwards hit it out of the park last night. He clicked, he resonated, and he OWNED that stage.

Anyone who doesn't give that to him IS an angry political opportunist.

7. They Glowingly endorsed McCain on the Republican side. They lean right and like Obama. No surprise
Same reason why they don't like Edwards withdraw plan.

9. Translation
I know Trav is a mean, cynical, evil minded man ... but this is what flashed through my mind as I read this.

Quote:

"John Edwards has morphed away from the optimist who won South Carolina in 2004. The candidate who stayed mostly above the fray four years ago is angry now, and pushing hard to turn working-class angst into political opportunity."

Translation:

"John Edwards is no longer willing to play ball and blow sunshine up the butts of the voters while hoping to coax another bowel of gruel out of the system for the poor. He has suddenly gone back to his earliest roots and is speaking his mind. He's a freaking traitor to his class."

Quote:

"He also has tried to one-up the other top Democrats with the least prudent plan for withdrawing from Iraq."

Translation:

"His Iraq withdrawl plan could spell curtains for our investment portfolio."
