I had to register & vote today (IL grace period for recently moved). First, I'd like to say that I was very proud to cast my votes with my little boy clinging to my side :)
Second - and here is where things get interesting... The employees at the voter registration office were listening to AM720 Talk Radio. If you're from the Chicago area, you'll recognize that as the WGN Talk Radio Station. During the time I was in there, it was the Kathy & Judy show.
So what's coming through the radio, right next to all the voting booths? The hosts are talking about the Democratic Debate last night, and taking calls. 100% support of the Dems and then they provided their own analysis of the candidates, etc, etc. Now, I'm glad to hear this on the radio of course - but it still bothers me that it was being played in a polling center. Granted it was a workplace location (Dept of Voter Registration for our county), and there were cubicles, offices, etc... And despite my candidate of choice being discussed, along with the others, in good light - I just think it's wrong. There are signs everywhere stating no electioneering within 100 ft of the building. Yet inside, they're listening to essentially a progressive discussion and analysis of candidates. I even heard at one point where McCain & Romney have no chance against the top 3 Dems. Again, liking what I heard - just not where I heard it.
At one point I was going to say something to the woman at the counter that she might want to turn the station or turn it down. But there was a couple right there, and I didn't want to make a scene.
