4. Um, what sort of comparison are you trying to draw here?
Who should an apology about Reagan (there was no insult) be addressed to - you?

6. Well I'm still waiting for Obama's supporters to apologize...
...for airing a spanish language radio ad in Nevada that starts out by saying "Hillary Clinton doesn't respect our people". Obama's official spokesperson not only refused to be critical of it, he turned a question about it into another opportunity to attack Clinton.

Hmmm. Without knowing the context, it's impossible to say, but that has the potential of going over like a very leaden balloon!

15. Yes,
that ad is disgusting and should be condemned.

Tom The LA Vegas Sun just endorsed Clinton!

Interesting comment:

"As we see it, the only obstacle in Clinton’s way in Nevada is the unfair caucus system that has been set up, specifically the rule that allows on-site voting at casino workplaces on the Strip. Not only is it unfair because it isn’t an option for noncasino workers who can’t get away from work, but it also enables the Culinary Union, which has endorsed Obama, to pressure its members into voting for their union’s endorsed candidate even if they prefer Clinton."

23. Here is the ad translated. No spin
UNITE HERE Negative Ad
(Translation)
Hillary Clinton does not respect our people. Hillary Clinton supporters went to court to prevent working people to vote this Saturday — that is an embarrassment.

Hillary Clinton supporters want to prevent people from voting in their workplace on Saturday. This is unforgivable. Hillary Clinton is shameless. Hillary Clinton should not allow her friends to attack our people’s right to vote this Saturday. This is unforgivable; there’s no respect

Sen. Obama is defending our right to vote. Sen. Obama wants our votes. He respects our votes, our community, and our people.

Sen. Obama’s campaign slogan is “Si Se Puede” (“Yes We Can”). Vote for a president that respects us, and that respects our right to vote. Obama for president, “Si Se Puede” (“Yes We Can”).

It's been dismissed as bullshit by so many people at all levels of the Democratic Party that it's stunning to me any Democrat would continue to defend it. The Greenspuns are Republicans.

16. I think the ad is accurate - Clinton respected those voters only as long as she
thought they were going to vote for her. If the lawsuit had been successful, how many of those workers would have been able to caucus?

BTW - I've yet to hear a coherent explanation about how this prevents other people from caucusing in their residential precincts.

24. I agree with you. It was fair for them to attack Clinton
Even though Clinton herself had no formal role in that lawsuit, in politics she was close enough to those who did to be targetted by those who feel it was an unjust law suit. If the ad had focused on alleged voter disenfranchisement specifically rather than the vague repeated references to "disrespect" for "our people" and "our community", I would have considered it within bounds for a negative ad.

25. Anyone who thinks that a spanish language ad that begins with:
"Hillary Clinton doesn't respect our people" is referring only to Union members being disenfranchised better be gullable enough to believe that the quote from Bob Johnson...

"when Barack Obama was doing something in the neighborhood; I won't say what he was doing, but he said it in his book"

...was always intended to be about Obama's community organizing.

There are multiple efforts to blur the line between union members and hispanics as a people in that ad, including one line that says Hillary "doesn't respect our community" for one obvious example, but there are more.

26. Even apologies from one side to another become fodder for accusations
nowadays here.

The "offended" side will say that the apology is delayed, insincere, and/or forced; that the "offending" side is continuing their attacks as before, so nothing has really changed; and that the apology proves that the offense was indeed outrageous and a sign of the other side's dirty politics.

The "offending" side will say that at least they apologize for their mistakes, why doesn't your side do the same; and their side is trying to maintain a positive campaign and correcting their mistakes.

In this case it was a Clinton supporter apologizing to the Obama campaign, but it happens just as often in the other camps.
